You'll see a Trashcan icon when using some apps but this is a delete function and not a trash can like the one on your computer. The delete function is used to delete something and once you do that the item is gone.

The only place where some things are kept in the "trash" for some period of time is in Mail. Deleted items are kept for a period of time that is set in

Settings > Mail > You've Account > Advanced > Deleted Messages > Remove after??

For the iPad as a device, there is no trash. Individual apps may have a trash bin type function, but not always. And yes, that means delete with care.

There is no Trash Can. Once you delete an item, either on purpose or accidential, it's gone forever.
