We have the fabric protection plan but apparently it doesn't cover crayon (which they didn't tell us until we called for a second time this week). So - great - now it's set in... Anyhow it's a microfiber couch. Any tips on what might work?Original poster's comments (4)go to original poster's comments pagereplied with hug1Comment Advertisement | page continues below

My SIL had the same problem, apparently protections plans don't cover, crayon, dirt or anything that would actually get ON a couch.

This is what crayola said : ( I just checked their website :)

How to remove Crayons (Regular) from Microfiber fabrics:

Cleaning MaterialsSpongeDull knife or metal spoonSmall stiff bristle brushPaper towelsWD-40® (car part lubricant)Liquid dish soap

Stain Removal TipsScrape excess crayon off with a dull-edge knife or metal spoon.  Spray with WD-40 and let stand a few minutes. With a small, stiff bristle brush work crayon stain and wipe with paper towels. Respray with WD-40 and apply liquid dish detergent on the sprayed area; work in with the brush and wipe stain away with a damp sponge.  If stain remains, repeat the procedure.  For another method, use any brand upholstery cleaner as directed on the container.      (Optional)-Amodex® ink & stain remover   PROCEDURE:  Use according to directions on container.      Purchase Amodex by calling 800-624-7367 or visit www.fahrneyspens.comOpens a new window.

Please Note...The suggestions for removing stains have been compiled as a service to our consumers. We are unable to guarantee or be responsible for the results obtained by these procedures. You may also wish to consult your local cleaner for further recommendations.

Before attempting the stain removal method, test each procedure on an inconspicuous area of the material or surface to be cleaned. Please be advised these stain removal methods involve hazardous products and are intended only for adult use. Crayola does not recommend children attempt these procedures.

In many procedures, specific brands of products are recommended. These are brands that performed most effectively in our laboratory. Always check individual containers for recommended procedures and warnings.  Competitive brand products may work equally well.

Good luck!!! You can always check their site with more specifics about the type of crayon.  Good luck!

  • member avatardtverdal Original PosterInactivePosted 10-25-10Thanks!! We used them a lot for ds because he had reflux. I guess it needs to be food, fluid or bodily functions. Anyone else dealt with this before?

    Just bumping.

Sometimes I feel like I must be on "ignore" to a lot of folks cause my posts rarely get more than one or two responses.  Maybe I should pick more controversial topics than crayon stains.  Wink

Baby wipes worked on our microfiber couch. You have to rub kinda hard, but it came right out for us.  BTW, they also take permanent marker off of some thingsSmile.   And I'd check the documentation you have on your fabric protection plan.  It could be they really do cover crayon, or don't specifically except it, but they just don't want to pay up.

Oh my goodness. DS just colored on our couch today with crayon! First time I've let him use them too. :( I'm glad you posted FWIW.

Suzy I tried baby wipes and although they did work it took a long time for it to come out.  I'll have to try again and scrub harder.  Thanks for the tip.

Icpeck - sorry to hear about your DS.  Misery loves company I suppose.  LOL!

GOOF OFF! You can get it at home depot and its amazing! It will take paint out of carpet and handles pretty much any mess. Test it on like the underside of a cushion or something though to make sure it doesn't take out the color. I've never used it for crayon on microfiber but I bet it would work!

My microfiber couches say to clean them using a little shampoo and water. That has worked to remove ink stains, but no one has used crayon on the couches yet.

Thanks guys!  I'll definitely try those tips.  After a week of crayon on the couch, I'm excited to finally get them clean!

  • ggrows Posted 07-17-14I know this is an old post, but I wanted to thank you ladies. You saved my day.
