   How do I know when my snake is hungry???

   My snakes moves around a lot and always seems to wanna escape (active). Maybe hes hungry Im not sure.

   during the day? that's a sign of stress and/or husbandry issue. if the roaming is only at night, it could definitely be the snake just hunting. i know you've posted around before but could you give us a run-down of your setup? hides, heat sources(s), regulation, etc. sorry if i make you write it all again.

   No its fine, I just want my snake to be okay and I'm not sure what you mean by husbandry issues? I have a temp gage, a hiding hole wood thing, water bowel, and a little fake plant for shading in the cage. outside i have a heat lap and a heat mat. He hasn't ate in 3 weeks and I think he may be hunting except its the middle of the day.

   If you want him to eat I would recommend that you address your husbandry from too big of an enclosure, too big of hides (they need to be tight like a shell fitting a turtle), to unreliable thermometer giving you a false sense of security regarding your temps. Not feeding is the Number 1 problem for new owners and is usually 90% husbandry related. "husbandry" is the environment you create for your animal within their enclosure. this includes temperatures, bedding, homes/hides, equipment regulation, pretty much everything besides the snake. proper husbandry is a HUGE part of owning a beep. here's what i posted last time about your husbandry (harsh words removed): Originally Posted by tttaylorrr those UTH are NOT meant to be removed. if you read the instructions you would have known this. you have probably damaged the internals and it is most likely very dangerous. there is absolutely no reason to ever remove it "because it's daytime." a thermoSTAT will regulate the temp thus making removal unnecessary. get a new UTH, get a THERMOSTAT like NOW, and use it. throw away that analog thermometer. it is worthless in terms of accuracy. also i don't see how you're measuring humidity. get a digital thermometer/hygrometer combo for $10 at walmart. ditch the bulbs. light stresses beeps out. get a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) instead with a ceramic socket. that water dish is ENTIRELY too small. the animal should be able to fit in it. you have a hide that's open on both sides, and only one. two identical cave-like hides is standard. that hide is no where near secure enough, hence why you never see him use it.     You could still technically use that hide, but you need to make sure that one end of it is closed up somehow. For example, I pushed mine up against the terrarium wall and shoved some moss in the very back to "close it off" or shroud it so that you can't see in or out from that end. You definitely need to clutter though. Fake foliage, moss, anything to create less open surroundings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
