I'm using safari
I visit a webpage using a URLwhich I know from memory because it's a hidden page on a site that does not allow indexing. It works fine in safari and is actually a text file, I then click File/Save as , and A message says I cannot save this text file.
- Why, what is the reasoning, that's bizzaire? But lets proceed,
- It says I can save the file as a WebArchive or "Both", When I click "Both" it still only saves 1 file, what's going on here
- What do I open the webarchive with so I can get to the text later when offline? Or was that the point? Basically the file won't open.
A bit lost, this works in Windows, but still learning to do stuff on MacOS.

- Can no longer display a file in Safari Using Safari Version 13.1 (13609.1.20.111.8) on an iMac running 10.13.6. Let me first say that I am barely literate when it comes to internet stuff and I'm sure I get some of the nomenclature wrong, so please bear with me. In the past, I would upload files to my domain's storage area using Fetch, a file transfer app. When I wanted to display a file in Safari, I would type into the Location field the domain-name/Folder/file.suffix. Easypeasy. But since the most recent Safari update, the files simply download; they don't display in Safari. I'm sure I'm missing something simple. I don't see anything in Safari prefs that address this. A little helpful advice on how to again display files in Safari would be appreciated. Thanks. 790 1
- Safari on Mac converts sites to pages On Safari, when I click a link in a webpage, it always converts to a standalone read format doc, and I can click no more. 747 1
- Safari on MacOS (Mojave) can't open newly created files Assume I first open Safari, go to gmai.coml to check my emails. Then I creat a local file using any app such as TextEdit. Then I try to use Safari to open that file (to use the file as an attachmen to an email), but the newly created file is not visible! If I directly open Finder, the new file is there and can be opened with any apps. But Safari just couldn't see the newly created file. I know if I quit Safari, then restart it, that file is visible now. But that is inconvenient sometime. This is clearly a bug inside Safari. Other web browsers, such as Firefox, doesn't have this problem. 759 1

You should be able to open the .webarchive file directly in Safari. (Safari > Open File...)

Thanks, my actual use case was to copy the text file, froe the website's hidden URL (file browsing is disabled) onto my computer as a normal text document. Not to have a web archive, but this did work when I used Firefox instead of Safari so I did not have to select and paste the text into a file in the end.
But that does now make sense. cheers.
