Use a flat screwdriver or butterknife to pry on the clip on the side(its the side facing out i think) and the whole thing comes out. Then replace bulb and pop back in. #3 · Mar 26, 2012 there is also a section in the owners manual about changing the bulb.check it out as well,its towards the back #4 · Mar 26, 2012 DONT PRY THE LIGHT FROM OUTSIDE! this is wrong and will result in you chipping plastic, or removing the factory tape that is meant to keep water out.. if you just barely pulled on it dont get upset... just dont do it any more lol... i made the same mistake at first too.. if you read your owners manual, you will see that you need to remove the INSIDE trunk liner, and then you can get to all the bulbs that are located on the outside of the trunk... this will take a small screwdriver.. phillips (x) head i think.. just carefuly unscrew the screws holding on the trunk liner.. that dark gray/black fabric on the inside of the tunk lid.. and then a gentle twist will remove the light bulb socket.. i replaced both of mine at the same time, because usually 2 bulbs come in a pack, and it will save you the trouble when the next license plate light goes bad! good luck! it shouldnt be too hard!

I think I will go with removing the truck cover cause when I first tried it I did hear the tape removing #10 · Feb 20, 2013 Little Update since this isn't that clear Hey guys I have a 2012 koup sx and I tried changing my bulbs to leds. I took suggestions from the forums and wanted to let everyone know what I found. First Make sure you Take off your Plate. The owners manual says to start outside, take off the lens from the left side of each place, then pull it down, a little twist and the socket will come out, then the bulb. I did not break anything or hear anything rip or crack no problems except the bulb was a little tough. I first took apart the inside of the trunk (black area) where the lid closes on like brad's suggested. Took out 3 screws and nothing, no access to the plate. So be careful & follow your owners manual from the outside! #11 · Feb 20, 2013 I did it from the outside as well, the clips holding the brackets can be very flimsy though. One of mine cracked so I used some gorilla glue all weather tape and that has held up fine for a year. #12 · Feb 20, 2013 If you have a Koup, the only way to do it is from the outside. Sedans are through the trunk I believe, since the actual plate is on the trunk instead of on the diffuser below, like the Koup. #13 · Jun 28, 2014 Hey so I just changed out my bulbs and one of the clips broke, any ideas on where to replace it or how to fix it. They have had it posted on craigslist. #15 · Sep 25, 2014 Bump on the replacement! The clips broke on both sides for me (Koup) and I am tired of holding the assembly up with double sided tape #16 · Sep 26, 2014 Look for a junker on craigslist or eBay.
