How do you enlarge a picture to make it bigger without being blurry? kittiescarfs-blog

Unfortunately, enlarging a raster image will always result in some quality loss unless you redraw the art. See this tutorial to understand why.

One trick that can work for some digital art (a logo is a good example) is to convert/redraw the image with vector shapes (Inkscape is a free vector program with convert/autotrace capability) - vector shapes will enlarge without quality loss. Vector tracing might not be the best choice for all types of art.

    Things to try in FireAlpaca:

    1. Use the Transform operation (under the Select menu) and choose the Bicubic (Sharp) option at the bottom of the window. Remember, hit OK to “freeze” the transform. Bicubic (Sharp) might work better for digital art than the default Bilinear (Smooth) which does more blurring (smoothing) of enlarged areas.

    2. If you want “big square pixels” rather than a smoother enlargement, try the Nearest neighbour (Jaggies) option when using Transform.

    3. You can also try the Edit menu, Image Size to enlarge your image.
