Um, no it's not. Selfishness is freedom. Altruism is slavery. Freedom is living for yourself, and others living for themselves. Slavery is living for others, just as with altruism. Maybe you should actually read the book instead of having knee-jerk reactions to a bastardized version of the title? B

Why do people immediately jump to that 1984 line when they hear this book title? They couldn't be any more different if they tried. The 1984 slogans are obviously wrong. Rand's book title is correct. You cannot have freedom without selfishness. If you value your freedom, you MUST embrace at least some selfishness. K1052
