   Does anyone know how to reset the ABS light and the yellow ((!)) brake light? When I bought the car the lady gave me a printout of the ABS code from the dealership that showed it was the right front speed sensor. I just got that speed sensor replaced over the weekend. Also, the yellow ((!)) brake light recently came on so I had my brake rotors/pads replaced. My mechanic is a family friend who works out of his garage so he didn't didn't reset the codes. Is there a way I can do this? I read something about using a "jumper" on the terminal under the dash. What is a jumper and where do I get one? Is there another solution? Thanks in advance.

   I'm not aware of any "jumper" to reset OBDII codes. Most code readers can reset a Prius. Including the "Scangauge" sold on this forum. Or you can take it to one of your auto parts stores, who read the codes for customers or potential customers without charge (Autozone, I think). Their reader could probably reset the system and clear the codes. If the light comes back on there is something else wrong.

   If all else fails, you can try disconnecting the 12v lead acid battery. Note, this may reduce your fuel economy (temporarly), lose radio settings, as well as lose your window calibration (for rolling up windows with one click).

   Thanks guys. I'll first try disconnecting the battery and if that doesn't work I'll plan to bring it to Autozone or something. Question about disconnecting the battery though... I don't care about the radio stations or a temporary loss of fuel economy so much, but is there a way to reprogram the one click window calibration? I would hate to lose that. Thanks again.

   It's in the owners manual, and posted on this forum. You can search for it. As I recall, you power the window half way down then all the way up. But my memory may be faulty so check the manual or do the search.

   I believe you have to keep holding the switch up for a few seconds after it hits the top or something.

   An ABS light can not be reset without a OBD2 compliant reader with ABS reset capability. Removing the battery leads will not reset the ABS light either. That said however, there is a way to reset the ABS light on a 2nd gen Prius. Find the can 2 bus link/ OBD2 port under the dash below your right knee.When looking up at it you will find a connector with 2 rows of 8 pins each. Connect a jumper between pin 4 (CG pin) and pin 13 ( TC pin) on the OBD2 connector. Starting at the top row reading from left to right, pin 4 would be the pin 4 pins away from the left on top row. On bottom row pin 13 would be 4 pins from the right on bottom row. Connect the two pins using a small paper clip, then put the car into ready mode. It will start blinking the ABS light on the dash and the touch screen display will not look normal. Press the brake pedal 8 times or more in 5 seconds after turning the car into ready mode. Turn off the car and remove jumper. The ABS light will not be on. This procedure only resets the light, not the underlying problem. If the original fault is not repaired the light will come on again. In my case I did a brake job on the car and the abs light came on because I moved the piston back in the caliper. The abs system detected a pressure difference between wheel cylinders setting the ABS light. The ((!)) display that's lit is tire pressure indicator light indicating a low pressure reading on one or more tires.All that needed here is to air up the low pressure in one or more tires. -Paul R.    My ABS light came on when my son backed into something. That is caused by the crash sensor. The Autozone scanners WILL NOT reset the ABS light. Theirs only does engine codes not body codes Nor will most code readers that garages have. I took mine to my mechanic and his was an expensive Snap-On and it wouldn't reset the ABS. It has to go to the dealership for that code. They in turn wanted to charge me an hours labor for that. I argued about it. I know how long it takes to reset a code. I got it back 10 minutes later..... reset, and was not charged for it. Good luck...

   The ABS, (!) , and BRAKE lights also came on when I was testing the piston in the caliber while doing a brake job. I am so grateful for your reply, Paul R Heller!!! I tried the paper clip reset. It worked like a charm, resetting all the lights, and it saved me the $70 my dealer would have charged.

    Just for clarification, the symbol you posted looks more like the Brake SYstem indicator (exclamation point inside of a circle with parenthesis on either side of the circle. The TPMS icon uses a tire symbol.

    Changed my bearings but had to remove the entire hub and use a press to get the assembly out. In doing so, I had to disconnect the ABS sensor. After I made the repair and reconnected the ABS sensor, the ABS light on the dash was on and the ABS system didn't work. I followed the instructions of Paul Haller and the light is now off and the ABS is working perfectly. Saved me spending too much money at the dealership. Thanks a bunch.

    Ok I reset the abs light at this point I bleed the brakes, every other brakes pedal stroke works the electric pump? well it was reported in another post I read on. In my case it worked sometimes every pedal stroke. Not sure if the person I had stepping on the petal had pressed it hard enough? When it did work I got a high pressure volume of fluid, other times it just came out slow. so far I have flushed a large bottle of fluid threw. Upon starting the car my abs light returned with VSC, ABS, and Brake light. ABS pump had been disconnected by the repair shop. What am I missing? I also have an air bag light on. All repairs where made, sending the module out to get reset unless anyone had some incite on this.

    I really got to thank you for this information. My daughter decided she was going to drive me Prius for 60 miles with the emergency brake on. After she did this, the brake and ABS light were on. I took it to the mechanic and replaced the rear drums and brake shoes. The light was still on. I figured it might just be a sensor thing so I wanted to reset it. I googled it and found this. Great Information! My question to you is, where did you learn this and is there any documentation that shows what else you can do with the display as far as tuning or troubleshooting? I would really love to learn more about troubleshooting my Prius.

    My car has 255K currently and yesterday I ran into this problem and the brakes acted all weird and the brake, yellow(!) and ABS lights came on and I drove home very carefully. Today used the paperclip to reset the ABS and brakes work normal again for now will take out on the road for about 100 miles later and report back.

    Many thanks Paul , your fix worked for me after I pushed the rear piston back to stop a squealing brake , Thanks again , got in panic mode at one point lol....
