how far apart should i plant? Liriope m. 'Classic Blue' (2.5 inch pot) hello i live in dallas, texas. i want a hardy, drought/low maintenance plant that will help with erosion and create a semi-border between my neighbors in the front yard. they have many weeds and tree leaves that blow on our lawn. i have 300 linear feet to cover on both sides of my house. do you think it is safe to plant these in a straight line to create an edge? thank you! Hi, Liriope muscari 'Classic Blue'will grow almost anywhere, in any conditions and is easily transplanted. Muscari liriope should reach a height of 12 to 15 inches and form a 12 to 18 inch clump. Spacing would depend on how "solid" you want your line to appear, but should be at minimum 10 to 12 inches apart, and no more than 18 inches. In the right conditions, plants should reach full size within about 3 years. Liriope muscari performs best in light, moderately fertile, preferably acid, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It will tolerate full shade, but will produce more elongated foliage and spread more slowly. An easy care low maintenance border plant or ground cover, just fertilize in early spring and mow foliage at the highest possible cutting height in late winter before new growth. Thanks for asking,
