Patients frequently show up to their consultation and the first thing out of their mouth is “how long after bbl can I get breast augmentation?” Because everybody is unique, there is no one-size-fits-all answer, but Dr. Qazi has some general guidance for prospective patients.

How Long After BBL Can I Get Breast Augmentation?

In the world of cosmetic procedures, the general rule of thumb is that patients should wait 3 months before getting another procedure. After you get a BBL, you will be advised to wait a minimum of 3 months before you undergo breast augmentation.

The rationale behind the 3 month rule is all about fat absorption and proper healing. While most patients are safe to resume normal activities at the 6 to 8 week mark, is it important to have additional healing time before another procedure.

Fat absorption does not occur overnight. The initial absorption will occur within the first 6 weeks after the procedure. Additional absorption takes place over the next 5-6 weeks. By month 3, your body will have reabsorbed enough of the fat for the results to be finalized. Your butt may settle slightly for up to a year, but it takes roughly 3 months for the body to completely bounce back and for you to get your range of motion back.

The 3 month rule is the minimum amount of time required after a BBL. Dr. Qazi normally advises patients to transform their body at their own pace. While everyone looks at body inspiration photos and wishes to look like that, it is actually a big adjustment for most people to have their body changed.

When Can I Get Breast Implants After a BBL?

After a BBL it is medically necessary for patients to waist 3 months before they can get breast augmentation. After 3 months, the body is adequately healed to undergo another procedure. However, everyone is different. Some patients get their implants as soon as possible after their BBL, while others take months or years off between the two procedures.

There are a few factors that can influence how long after BBL you can get breast augmentation:

  1. Your Age

Younger people are able to bounce back more quickly after both injuries and cosmetic procedures. Because younger people have more collagen and elastin in their skin, they also do not scar as easily. Incisions will heal faster and fade more thoroughly. Adults in their 20s will most likely be ready for breast augmentation right at the 3 month mark. However, it is common for older adults in their 30s, 40s, and 50s to need a few extra months.

  1. Physical Health & Healing

The biggest barrier to getting breast implants too soon after a BBL is your healing and mobility. After a BBL, you will have very limited range of motion and will not be able to safely sit down without a specialty donut pillow. Your butt will need to heal enough for you to lay and sit on it before you get breast augmentation. Your body will also need the time to adjust and incorporate the fat cells into the new area.

  1. Work Schedule

If you don’t work at a swanky startup, you probably don’t have unlimited PTO. Because both a BBL and breast augmentation are such involved procedures, most patients need to take between 1 and 3 weeks off of work for each procedure. Patients with a desk job will be able to return to work sooner than patients with a physically demanding job. If you work in an appearance-based industry, such as acting or modeling, you will need to time your procedures so that you have plenty of time to get used to your new body.

Brazilian Butt Lift & Breast Augmentation: Which Should I Get First?

Everyone knows that a Brazilian Butt Lift and breast augmentation are the cosmetic surgery equivalent of peanut butter and jelly, or butter and popcorn. The results complement each other very well and getting both can really transform the figure.

While it is possible to get a BBL and breast augmentation at the same time, it is not recommended. The first step is to set up a consultation with a trusted surgeon like Dr. Qazi to get a better understanding of what is right for you.

The BBL Recovery: What You Need To Know

It normally takes 6 to 8 weeks to recover after a Brazilian Butt Lift. The procedure involves using liposuction to remove fat cells from one area of the body and graft them onto the butt. Because liposuction requires small incisions, patients will need to keep their incisions clean and protected until they heal. The process of fat grafting normally causes swelling, bruising, soreness, and general discomfort in the buttocks region.

Initially, you may have drains near the treatment area to prevent fluid build up. These will either be removed in the treatment room or in a follow up appointment. When you are discharged, you will be given a special compression garment that you must wear for 22 hours a day for several weeks. You will also be instructed to only sit on a donut pillow until you are recovered.

Patients are able to return to work and other activities, excluding exercise, within 2-3 weeks. At 4-5 weeks, you will be able to resume light exercise that does not strain the buttocks. After 6-8 weeks, you can resume squats, cardio, leg press, and other exercises that focus on the glutes.

During the recovery, it is important to help maximize fat absorption to get the best results. Normally only a fraction of the fat cells injected are properly absorbed. The medical team normally over-injects to counteract this, but there are still things you can do to achieve the optimal look.

After your BBL, you must stay hydrated, keep your weight stable, and eat nutritious foods. You must also avoid alcohol and tobacco products. Be sure to stay off your buttocks until the medical team tells you that it is safe to sit normally again.
