It is thought that some snails can live up to 50 years but most are assumed to live between 5 and 15 years.

They will aestivate [hibernate] when conditions are very dry and then wake up again when the moisture returns.

Most snails are fully grown in 2 years. At maturity, the snail will often develop a thickened lip on the shell.
