Spider season is here and arachnophobes are desperate for this short period to be over. From the first or second week of September, you’ll spot more and more spiders around your home. Even though spider season doesn’t last very long, there are some spider species that you’ll be able to see all year round. Express.co.uk reveals the five spider species that are out ALL YEAR. How long does spider season last?

At the start of September when the leaves start to fall and the weather is still fairly warm, spiders start to creep out of hiding and into your homes.

It is thought that spiders ‘come out’ at this time because of the cold weather, but this isn’t the case.

The most prevalent spider in the UK, the common house spider, is specially adapted to indoor climates.

This means they normally live in your home regardless of the weather as it provides a constant climate.

Fewer than five percent of the spiders you see inside have ever seen the outside world!

Spider season isn’t spiders crawling into your homes, it’s simply the time of year where spiders mate.

A huge 80 percent of the spiders you see will be male spiders who are on the hunt for a female mate.

Females tend to stay put inside, hidden in warm crevices or low-key webs.

Don’t worry, spider mating season should be over by October and these spiders will be far less visible.

Even though spider season ends in October, you’re not totally free of these creepy crawlies.

As mentioned, spiders will make a home in your humble abode at any time of the year.

According to the Ames Group, there are more than 640 different species of spiders and lots of them can be spotted all year round.

In fact, the giant house spider is more prevalent in the autumn and the four spot weaver spider pops up around October and November.
