17 Jul, 2015 @ 2:50am How long is this game? It has a great price right now, but I don't want another game which is finished after 10 hours... there are reviews with 19 hours, with 30, with 70... how long does a playthrough take for an averagely talented player who sometimes doesn't find the way immediately? (I usually don't play a game twice). < > Showing 1-15 of 15 comments

17 Jul, 2015 @ 5:49am It took me around 20 hours to complete on medium difficulty. I'm pretty average at this kind of game. #1

17 Jul, 2015 @ 5:57am 20 hours for me (with collecting everything), but it is 20 hours of pure quality. The game is a masterpiece and depending on how paranoid you might get, it will take longer. The path is constantly shown to you by the Motion Tracker, so it's impossible to get lost. For someone who plays for the first time, I think you can expect 20-25 hours. Last edited by Crimsomrider; 17 Jul, 2015 @ 5:58am #2

17 Jul, 2015 @ 5:59am I understand that it can probably be beaten in under eight hours. It took me about sixteen. A quarter of that was trying to convince myself that I wouldn't immediately be eaten if I wandered away from my safe and comfy locker hiding spot. #3

17 Jul, 2015 @ 6:04am I'm 25 hrs and ran out of steam (lol) to finish it. There will be quite a few times that 'you wont find the way immediately'. Lots of toing and froing in this game. It's demanding of your attention which is why i played in chunks and haven't finished it. If you aren't playing a lot of other captivating games, then you will maybe enjoy this? I hope to finish it -maybe in the winter. Just now i haven't got the patience to sit glued to a monitor for 45min to -at times- barely make any progress. #4

17 Jul, 2015 @ 6:17am Thanks for your answers! Hm, I have mixed feelings right now. Gotta say, that I'm quite easily frustrated in games, when I don't understand where to go.. I am more of an Open world player, don't like those "tunnel games" too much (but that depends. Metro 2033 and Last Light, for example, were awesome, and there was literally one direction to go). And if you say, that the game is a master piece and takes like 20 hours to beat... might as well buy it Last edited by Klumpatsch; 17 Jul, 2015 @ 6:18am #6

18 Jul, 2015 @ 4:18pm If you didn't take the time to "explore" or anything like that (there is exploring to be done, despite it being a linear game) and you literally just moved toward your main objective all the time, never taking a moment to look around or read the journal entries and messages on computers and stuff, then you could probably smash it in 15 or 20 hours.Being a huge Alien fan, I explored every single inch of Sevastopol and I played slowly, using stealth to its maximum (which sometimes means spending 5 minutes in a locker rather than risking a move) and it took me around 30 hours... on medium. #12

19 Jul, 2015 @ 12:33am You guys convinced me, I bought the game now. Think that 20-30 hours of fun is enough, considering that you'll ♥♥♥♥ your pants a lot. The comment about "Locker Simulator" made me laugh, I remember this very well from Outlast =)Thanks again for all of your answers!Oh, and, in my humble opinion, speedruns are a bit pointless, it just shows that a person has too much time #14

I've played about 3/4 of the game without even using it. The Alien homes in on it and YOU!! Munch, munch :) #5

If you like the Alien franchise, this is the best Alien game ever made. I call it Alien:Survival Simulator because that is what it is. Everything you see, hear and touch in the game is genuine. It is taken directly from the movies, it is even considered canon. Last edited by Crimsomrider; 17 Jul, 2015 @ 6:48am #8
Bobby View Profile View Posts Originally posted by Crimsomrider:The tracker has been well posted about here attracting the Alien, i don't use it nor need it. The other side -which is annoying- is that everthing the player does is played out in animation which gets in the way of weapon switching, for eg if you use the motion tracker and the Alien jumps you (as in 20ft ahead of you, not on you) , it takes enough of a moment to switch to flame thrower for the Alien to kill you before the animation plays out. Injecting health plays a moving bar on the screen, reloading weapons plays out. opening closing lockers play out etc.You have to think ahead of that part of the game which is to me the most annoying.Originally posted by zoo:Also, the motion tracker is like a red rag to a bull in this game! I call it Alien:Survival SimulatorWell my views are different i see it as a Realistic Locker Simulator; since you spend a lot of the early part of the game in them! before you get blueprints for decent weapons. Also, it's a MUST to be played with headphones on -another reason it's easier to pin-point the Alien without the tracker. #9
Originally posted by MattFiler:It can be completed under 3 hours in hardest difficulty and no deaths. This guy is seriously good at this game (SPOILERS, DON´T WATCH BEFORE COMPLETING THE GAME!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_KYHQraQEoIn order to do that, you have to master a "stealth run" or psychorunning technique, which is a funny glitch that lets you move close to running speed while making same noise as crawling (as in, none). But if you fail in execution, it will make a running sound instead and you will be dead soon thereafter. :) Last edited by zorlag; 18 Jul, 2015 @ 3:20pm #11Originally posted by Shadowhope:I understand that it can probably be beaten in under eight hours.Really? Wow that must be pretty difficult.I've played through twice and it took me around 20/30 hours each time I think.
Originally posted by MattFiler:He's using a glitch where you can run without making noise. Also he knows exactly where everything is, he's obviously played the game a LOT. #13Originally posted by zorlag:It can be completed under 3 hours in hardest difficulty and no deaths.
