How many days to completion from drywalll texturing?

For people who had a new house built, approx how long after the drywall texturing stage was the home ready to go and you had your closing date?I asked the construction manager at the start of the build when the home will be ready, and he said it was too early to give a definite date but said to ask again when its at the drywall texturing stage as that is when they will lock in a completetion date. Judging by other comes in the neighborhood, it takes about 5.5 weeks from when they pour the foundation to when the drywall is textured and that point should be mid next week for me...so in 1 week I should know when we can expect the house to be ready! We had drywall and texturing done in the same week. I'd say four days. It shouldn't take too long.

No no thats not my question. Smiley HappyIm asking...after the drywall texturing is done (which should be done mid next week), how much longer will it take for the house to be completed and we can close?I was told that once texturing is done, they will set our closing date, so Im trying to get an idea of when that closing date may be. Oh, I misinterpreted. Smiley Happy I'd say about 45 days. We had our drywall and texturing completed on 3/15 and completion is schedule tentatively for the 1st of May. Now that weather isn't much of a factor, it should go pretty fast for you.

Wow 45 days would be amazing! That would basically put us at June 1st completion!When we bought, we were given a tentative date of June 28th but as I mentioned earlier, when I asked the construction manager about it he said the date isnt locked in until the drywall is textured, so maybe it'll be that much sooner. Seems like it could be possible as if it really would be June 28th, that would mean 73 days after drywalll texturing and that seems excessively long. Are you getting a pre drywall walkthrough?

Anyway, in our case, we were given a completion date of June 5. We are assuming it will be later in the month, but we were told they would confirm our date, whatever it might be, during the pre drywall walkthrough.

Nope, no pre-drywall walkthrough. I was told there wont be any walkthru until the house is done...seemed odd to me but they said if I notice anything, to let them know and they would have no problem meeing with me at the house, otherwise they just keep going until the house is done. We had drywall finished around 3/18, they were done texturing by 3/21, and that day was also when we set our closing date of 4/29.

Thanks violetsmom! Sounds like a similar timeline to ours...drywall started yesterday, will probably be done by end of the week, then texturing Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday next week.Did the builder contact you to set the closing date or did you ask them once the texturing was done? Violet...When did they first start to excavate? I thought I remembered you saying you would close in May, but i could be mistaken.
