How much do professional boxers get paid for their fights?

Very little. Only a lucky few of them will ever get into the 7 figures range. I’ve seen many undefeated fighters who barely got into the 6-figure range as well. Read on for the exact breakdowns depending on level.

Challenge for a world title… $150k. Everybody else? $10-50k for regional/national titles, and probably $500-2000 (each) for your first 10 fights. If you’re a big name coming out of the Olympics, you get more. If you’re a nobody with tons of losses, you get just $500-1000 to lose. The real cost is the bills. If they care about you and want to invest in your future, they’ll pay for good trainer, sparring partners, health, bills, etc. If they want you there just (as B-side) to lose to their top guys, they’ll cover maybe the basics if even that.

Very little. Only a small percentage of boxers make it to the big money. An average journeyman could earn between 2000-2500 for a fight. Most have to try sell their own tickets to the show. The bigger the boxing show the more you will get paid. Fighting for titles increases your pay check too. When you get to world level boxing you earn any thing from 100 thousand up to multi million pay check depending on how popular you are. Alot of journeymen are paid knowing they are going to lose against an up and coming prospect. Most people only see the top guys making the money but it’s journeymen that keep the sport going.

Ya you got to pay for your licence every year and get expensive health checks which is alot of money when your not earning much. Most promoters want you to sell your own tickets too starting out. Which can be hard to do if your not popular. Alot of people don’t see this side of the sport. Sometimes journeymen could get offered a fight with just a few days notice. That’s why the amateur background is so important for getting a name.

    • Anybody can take a pro fight and make a quick $250 for four-rounders. But to be a competent pro…you’ll need at least 5-10 years in the amateurs.

    • most boxer when starting out in the pro ranks are not aware of what they are doing, by signing a contract with managers promoters ect. they end up talking funny and don’t really make the big bucks. i suggest u read a book called the art of ass kicking. its on amazon. the book gives u tips on how to pick a manger. how to mange your self with a little help. it also gives u the low down on how to box. the odds of u becoming a big money maker.

  2. It depends on each fighter as usual. Some get small pay, while others got bigger sum of money for every fight win or lose. There are also some fighters who get sponsors for every fights. Like energy drinks, or sponsors for their fighting gears. But for star fighters everything they do, they get paid and they get paid way higher, for example Manny Pacquiao, almost all his gears are sponsored and he got paid for a big amount of money for that. He also have a cut percentage on the PPV earnings and he surely got millions for every fight he has win or lose.

  4. it depends who you are , if you just came out of an Olympic game, managers will get interest on u which they would make your pay higher but if your unknown you will get like 10 50 k per fight so yh

  5. I am a 30 yo amateur boxer with 2 wins and 9 losses. Started when I was 24. I work extremely hard I keep on improving even though though I started late. Let me tell you that the boxing world is infested with sociopaths, haters, racist, and envy people. Coaches promoters will treat you based on your ethnicity and genetics! most coaches go for the lazy boxer who is talented. And tear down the hard working one. I recommend boxing as a sport or form of therapy, meditation etc go head and compete but don’t think you are going to get rich lol unless you are 8 years old and have a boxing family!

  7. im a 14 and i started boxing in 2019 i have not done any fights yet but i cant wait until i can actually start fighting. boxing 5 days a week and train at home both Saturday and Sunday. i put everything into boxing legit everything hopefully some day it works out

  10. Some fighters also receive sponsorships for each bout. such as energy drinks or companies who support their combat gear.
