When you see a phone number beginning with 0300, you might not immediately know what it means for your bill — especially if you’re an EE customer. These numbers are often used by government departments, charities, and public services, and the good news is they’re not premium rates. By regulation, they cost the same as ringing a standard UK landline (numbers starting 01 or 02). How much you’ll actually pay depends on your plan and whether you still have inclusive minutes left.
How EE handles 0300 calls
Inclusive minutes: If you’re on an EE contract or SIM plan with bundled minutes, calls to 0300 numbers are included within those minutes — just like calls to 01/02 numbers.
After inclusive minutes are used (or no bundle):
For EE contract customers, some sources suggest you’ll be charged around 50p per minute for calls to 0300 once you exceed your allowance.
For EE Pay As You Go (PAYG), the typical rate is around 30p per minute.
Roaming abroad: If you’re outside the UK, calls to 0300 numbers are treated as international and will not be covered by your inclusive allowance.

Why organisations use 0300 numbers
0300 numbers were introduced so that charities, non-profits, and public sector bodies could provide a fair and transparent contact number. Unlike 0845 or 0870 numbers, they don’t carry inflated charges or revenue-sharing, which makes them more accessible to the public.
Points to remember…
If you’re on EE and have inclusive minutes, 0300 calls won’t cost you anything extra.
If you’ve used up your minutes or don’t have a bundle, expect to pay roughly 30–50p per minute, depending on whether you’re on contract or PAYG.
The important thing to remember is that 0300 calls are never more expensive than standard UK landline calls, so you’ll always know where you stand.
