Known as the first to practice "stage diving" and the Godfather of Punk, Iggy Pop was born as James Newell Osterberg Jr. in Michigan. He started his musical career as a drummer in a few bands in Ann Arbour, and he followed the path from extremely noisy proto-punk music to absolutely calm and relaxing solo albums. During his career he cooperated with a great number of various musicians, starting with David Bowie and ending up with Goran Bregovic. He recorded 5 solo albums with his first professional band The Stooges, and also he has 17 solo albums representing various styles and musical directions. He managed to combine his active singing and stage performing career with acting, appearing in such movies as Cry Baby and Dead Man (with Johnny Depp), Coffee and Cigarettes, The Rugarts Movie, The Colour of Money, and others.
