How Old Is Scarlet Witch In The MCU? & 9 Other Things You Didn't ...
Maybe your like
Since playing a major part in leading up to The Snap that occurred in Infinity War and returning with gusto after the Blip in Endgame, Wanda Maximoff, A.K.A. Scarlet Witch, has become a major player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite all of this, there are still many lingering questions surrounding one of the most powerful, tragic, and interesting members of the MCU's Avengers.

From costume choices to her children, Scarlet Witch has a lot of history and ret-cons to dive into and with such a long wait between 2019's Endgame and 2020's WandaVision, let's get into it some of these inquiries.
10 Wanda Is (Probably) 21 Years Old
There's no official age for Wanda but with cinematic clues and math, we can make an educated guess. We know that Wanda's parents were killed by a Stark Industry weapon when she was ten. Since 2008's Iron Man saw the end of these weapons, we can assume they were killed either that year or just before.
Doing the math from there, it's likely that she was no older than 17 or 18 in 2015's Age of Ultron, making her at least 21 years old in 2018's Infinity War.
9 However, She Could Have Been Older - And Rocket Raccoon's Co-Pilot?!
According to Infinity War/Endgame co-screenwriter Christopher Markus, Wanda could have aged another five years because early drafts of the films had her survive The Snap. "We had whole drafts with Wanda on a road trip with Rocket," Markus tweeted.
Having Scarlet Witch travel throughout Endgame with Rocket Raccoon could have made for some interesting, possibly awkward, and hilarious scenes, but the decision to have her disintegrated was ultimately due to the two writers not being able to find a way to evolve her character.
8 Scarlet Witch: Most Powerful Avenger
One good thing about Wanda being Snapped in Infinity War is that her comeback in Endgame was all the more satisfying - especially when she came the closest to beating down Thanos.
Captain Marvel is the strongest Avenger, and we did see her hold her own against the Mad Titan, but she had no way to take down his defenses. Scarlet Witch was in the process of doing just this until Thanos commanded his ship to "rain fire" and ultimately forced her to take cover.
7 Scarlet Witch And Quicksilver Are No Longer Mutants
In 2015's Uncanny Avengers comic book run, it was revealed that not only was Magneto NOT Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's father, but the twins were in fact NOT mutants, a revelation that coincided with the theatrical release of Age of Ultron.
In the film, Wanda and Pietro were brought into the MCU as normal people who gained powers through experiments involving the Mind Stone, not as mutants since (at the time) Marvel and Disney did not own the film rights to the X-Men, Marvel's most prominent mutants.
6 Wanda's MCU Look Is Ripped From A Cartoon
In the comics, Scarlet Witch's signature costume includes a scarlet-and-pink leotard with matching gloves, cloak, and wimple. Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon called this look "too old-school" for the film.

Along with the fact that a leotard would be nonsensical in the MCU, Wanda also wasn't an Avenger just yet. As a result, Elizabeth Olsen, the actress who portrays her, has been clothed in semi-gothic attire that still has elements of Scarlet Witch's signature color. But where did this look come from? Why, the X-Men: Evolution cartoon of the early 2000s, of course.
5 The MCU hasn’t even come close to showing Scarlet Witch’s full potential
Since Wanda’s debut in the post-credits for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, we’ve seen her use telekinesis, mental manipulation, energy manipulation, and even healing powers by way of her signature hex bolts.
However, her main comic book powers consist of reality manipulation, which she has yet to unleash in any films. In fact, Thanos using the Reality Stone in Infinity War is the best representation of Scarlet Witch's reality-warping powers.
4 WandaVision On Disney+ May Bring Us A Fully Realized Scarlet Witch
With WandaVision not coming out until December 2020, we have only a short teaser and a brief, sinister description: "Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Wanda Maximoff and Vision begin to suspect things are not as they seem as the two live their ideal suburban life."
One thing that sets off alarms is that Vision is extremely dead - how can there be a series that features him post-Endgame? There's speculation that Wanda's ability to warp (and even create) reality may be in play here.
3 A Villain And A Hero
In the comics, Scarlet Witch was a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, became an Avenger, and eventually a villain again in House of M. She is no stranger to being at odds with other heroes.
In the MCU, Wanda also began as an enemy of the Avengers and then later joined them. Since there have been hints that Wanda's reality-warping powers may come to fruition in WandaVision, there's also speculation that awakening these powers may turn her into a powerful foe.
2 WandaVision May Introduce Scarlet Witch And Vision's Children
In two blink-and-you'll-miss-it clips from the WandaVision teaser, there are references to Wanda and Vision's children from the comic books. A hint of a pregnant belly and two cribs with pacifiers flying out of them.

What makes these hints a little sinister is that Wanda's children were originally manifestations of her reality-warping powers. When they tragically ceased to exist, Wanda's grief eventually got the best of her and she went mad. Hinting at this in WandaVision suggests that Wanda's mind may be at stake.
1 Scarlet Witch Will Share The Screen With The Sorcerer Supreme
With the possibility of Wanda's reality-warping powers and declining mental health entering the MCU, it makes sense for her to play a major role in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Especially since Marvel Studios revealed that WandaVision would lead right into the Sam Raimi-helmed film. Whether or not Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange will meet as allies or foes has yet to be seen but it will be thrilling to see her magic (which came from the Mind Stone) working in conjunction with his.
