Shawn Johnson East is an American former artistic gymnast and Olympic gold medalist. Born Shawn Michael Johnson East in 1992 in Iowa, she began training in gymnastics at the age of three. By the time she was six, she had joined the training team of renowned coach Liang Chow, under whose guidance she continued developing her skills throughout her school years.

Johnson achieved early success at the junior level and gained national attention as her career progressed. In 2007, she competed as a senior gymnast and won major titles at the World Championships and the Pan American Games. Her greatest athletic achievement came in 2008, when she represented the United States at the Beijing Olympic Games and won an Olympic gold medal, along with several additional medals.

In 2009, Shawn Johnson expanded her public presence by competing on the television show Dancing With the Stars. After years of elite competition, she announced her retirement from gymnastics in 2013. In 2015, she married former professional football player Andrew East. The couple became parents in 2019 and later welcomed two more children in the early 2020s.
