Trey Songz is an American R&B singer, musician, and songwriter known for his smooth vocals and hit songs. He was born Tremaine Aldon Neverson in 1984 in Virginia. Although he did not initially plan to pursue a singing career, his parents and friends encouraged him in his mid-teen years to record his music.

In 2003, Songz signed with a record label and released his debut album, I Gotta Make It, in 2005, which was warmly received by critics. His first two follow-up albums achieved moderate success, but his fourth studio album produced the hit single Say Aah, which reached the Billboard Top Ten. Another major success came with Bottoms Up, a collaboration with Nicki Minaj, which helped establish his global popularity.
