Chris Rock is one of America’s most successful comedians. He also acts, writes, produces and directs. He has won four Emmy Awards, three Grammy Awards and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. So, just how rich is Chris Rock as he turns 58 on Feb. 7?
Chris Rock Net Worth: $60 Million
Rock came into the public eye when he appeared as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” from 1990 to 1993. His first HBO comedy specials were “Big Ass Jokes” in 1994 and “Bring the Pain” in 1996. Next came “Bigger & Blacker” in 1999, “Never Scared” in 2004 and “Kill the Messenger” in 2008.
After a long hiatus from stand-up, he secured a $20 million per special deal with Netflix and released the first of two in 2018 called “Tamborine.” In December, Netflix announced Rock it would make a comedy special titled “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage,” creating “the first-ever Netflix live streamed global event,” the Los Angeles Times reported. The Baltimore show will be streamed on March 4.
He has also appeared in many films including “New Jack City,” “Boomerang,” “Down to Earth,” “Head of State,” “Lethal Weapon 4,” “CB4,” “I Think I Love My Wife,” “The Longest Yard,” the “Madagascar” film series, the “Grown Ups” series, “Top Five” and “Dolemite Is My Name.”
Rock also developed, wrote and narrated the sitcom “Everybody Hates Chris” which aired from 2005 to 2009 and was based on his early life.

Chris Rock’s net worth is $60 million, as reported by Celebrity Net Worth, but his 2016 divorce from Malaak Compton-Rock undoubtedly cost him a significant amount of money. While the terms of their divorce settlement were sealed, Compton-Rock – his wife of two decades — asked for a “huge hunk” of money, Page Six reported.
Early Life and Career
Rock was born on Feb. 7, 1965, in Andrews, South Carolina. When he was little, his family moved to Brooklyn, New York. His school time was especially rough as he endured a lot of bullying. He eventually dropped out of school to get his GED and worked a series of fast-food jobs.
In 1984, he started performing his stand-up routines in New York City. He eventually caught the attention of Eddie Murphy, who became his mentor and gave him his first big break with a role in 1987’s “Beverly Hills Cop II.”
He moved on to “SNL” and continued his acting career. He wrote, directed and starred in “Head of State,” “I Think I Love My Wife” and “Top Five.” He also ventured into documentaries by releasing “Good Hair” in 2009.
Personal Life
Rock married Malaak Compton in 1996 and they have two daughters, Lola Simone and Zahra Savannah. The couple’s divorce was finalized in 2016. One of the sticking points of the divorce was Compton-Rock’s 2015 request for child support for a South African girl, then 7, who had been living with them since she was 9 months old. Since the couple hadn’t formally adopted the child, Rock contended she wasn’t a dependent. The child support award also was sealed by the court.

In 2017, Rock listed his 3,700-square-foot Brooklyn carriage house that he owned for more than 20 years for $3.85 million and sold it for $3.35 million, the New York Post reported. He used it as a rental property for much of the time he owned it.
The Post reported that Rock continues to live near his former home in Alpine, presumably to spend time with his children, but said exactly where his home is located is unknown.
