See results without answeringFound out today I’m having another boy! This will be our 4th and last boy! So far, we have Nicholas David, Noah J, Dexter Stone. This baby will be Lincoln Darunia(after the legend of zelda, husbands decision, if this was a girl she’d be named Zelda. But sense it’s another boy, and he didn’t get to choose the last 3 babys’ names, I’m letting him choose this Baby’s name lol) but he will be called Link. Just didn’t want his real name to be “link” I suppose lol. Should I just spell it Lincoln how it’s supposed to be spelt? I just think it looks weird and won’t go with the K in “link”. Or do you think I should just go all out and just have his real name be “Link” to stop my confusion and make my husband extra happy?0Comment Advertisement | page continues below

  Why would you want to spell it wrong? All of your other kids have correctly spelt names...

• KnaveOfHearts Posted 02-25-20I think with a middle name like Darunia the first name should be more common and established. Lincoln would give him options that aren’t entirely tied to a hobby he may have no interest in. Linkon/Linkoln look ridiculous and would leave him constantly correcting people on the spelling. Definitely stick with Lincoln. I could give hundreds of examples of nicknames that do not follow the spelling of the first name, yet are perfectly acceptable.

  I have Lucas and he is sometimes called Luke. Its not a big deal to have NN that doesn't match the FN exactly.

  No reason to mess with the spelling of Lincoln.

  Definitely spell it Lincoln.

  1. His nn can still be Link; there's no B in William for Bill, and how the hell did we ever get Peg out of Margaret? The K is fine, no worries.

  2. Your older sons' names are spelled properly, and this little one will no doubt appreciate having his spelled properly.

  3. LOVE Darunia. And Link, too, to be honest. I'm a huge Zelda nerd.

• nNSAfamily Posted 02-26-20I have a Lincoln and spell it the correct or proper way to spell it. A girl we know has a Lincoln too but spells it Linkin, like Linkin Park. We also call ours Linc for short or that’s just how we assume we would spell it for short. I couldn’t picture Lincoln spelt any other way, but you do whatever makes you and your husband happy.
