East Asians (Chinese, Koreans, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, etc) are very short and slender generally. There are some exceptions, of course (eg. Hideki Matsui, Yao Ming, etc.) but most are short and slender. It's not unusual for them women to be around 4'10" and for dudes to be around 5'6" as the average height for them.

The average height of the Japanese woman is 1m58 (5"2). I'm the same height and I consider 5"6+ to be tall for a woman. It's not much of a stretch though, the average height for American women is 1m60 (5"3). Z
