How to send a friend request
Search results may vary depending on a player’s privacy settings. Also, your own privacy settings will determine who can send you a friend request.
Configure privacy settings PS5 console: Send a friend request
Press the PS button to go to the control centre and select Game Base.
From the Friends tab, select Search for players. You can also search from the home screen.
Enter a player's real name or online ID. You can also check the list of players you’ve played with recently and friends of friends.
Select the player you want to become friends with. The player's profile appears.
Select Add Friend. To share your real name and profile picture with a player, select the checkbox for Become Close Friends*.
*Please note, child account cannot be used to send or receive Close Friends request.
You can accept, decline, or cancel multiple friend requests at the same time by choosing Select Multiple, and then selecting the requests you want to apply the same action to.
PS4 console: Send a friend request
Select Friends from the function screen.
From the Search tab, enter a player’s online ID. You can also search in the Played Together tab to find players you interacted with during an online game.
Select Add to Friends next to the player that you want to add as your friend. To share your real name and profile picture with a player, select the checkbox for Become Close Friends*.
*Please note, child accounts can't send or receive close friend requests.

From the home screen, select Friends > Add Friend, then search for the player.
Select the player to open their profile and then select Add.
You can select to Share Your Real Name and Picture, then select Send Request.
How to accept a friend request
Select a PlayStation® console or device below for steps. PS5 console: Manage friend requests
When you receive a friend request, a notification appears at the top right of the screen. Press the PS button to accept or decline the request. To manage your friend requests:
Press the PS button to go to the control centre and select Game Base.
From the Friends tab, select View All Friends.
From the Friend Requests tab, select Accept or Decline for each request.
If you accept a request from a player labelled Close friend request, your real names and profile pictures are shared with each other.
From the Friend Requests tab, you can also cancel a request that you’ve sent to another player.
You can accept, decline, or cancel multiple friend requests at the same time by choosing Select Multiple, and then selecting the requests you want to apply the same action to.
PS4 console: Manage friend requests
Select Friends from the function screen.
Select Friend Requests, choose a request and then Accept.
To reject a Friend request or real-name request, highlight the player whose request you want to reject, press the OPTIONS button, and then select Delete Friend Request or Delete Real-Name Request.
PlayStation App: Manage friend requests
From the home screen select Friends > Requests. From here you can Accept orDecline friend requests.
To cancel a sent friend request, open the player's profile and select Sent > Cancel Friend Request.
How to view your friends list
To access a friend's profile, select the player from your friends list. From their profile, you can become close friends, see what games they play, the trophies they've earned, and more. PS5 console: View friends list
Press the PS Button to go to the control centre.
Select Game Base, and then select the Friends tab.

Select Friends. You can also select Friends from the function screen.

To view a list of your friends, select Friends from the top right of the screen.

How to remove a friend
On PS5 consoles and PS4 consoles, open the player's profile and select … (More) > Remove from Friends.
On PlayStation App, open the player's profile and select Friends > Remove as Friend.
