Take your new yarn and complete your stitch with it. In other words, yarn over with the new yarn and pull through remaining loops on hook . Then, simply continue to crochet with the new yarn. I would also recommend giving your two yarn ends a gentle tug after you've crocheted a few stitches with the new yarn.
