How to Adjust Focus on Webcam?

how can i make my webcam look perfect? like clearer and stuff.. coz i cant get it to look perfect!! i have a logitech one and it has no lights so i use a lamp.. how can i make it clear!! HELP!

I think the correct terminology is "sharpness". I believe you want to make your webcam photos sharp.

First of all, if the lens is dirty, use a soft cotton cloth to wipe it clean. Wipe softly with a slight moisture for best result. Don't push too hard, because you don't want to scratch the lens.

Most webcams do not have auto-focus. Instead, they rely on you to adjust the focus yourself. Most webcams allow you to adjust focus by turning the front lens element. Turn the lens element until your video feed becomes sharp (most "clear").

If after you adjust focus, your webcam still doesn't give you the sharpness that you are looking for, then you need a better webcam. Most $20 webcams do not provide very good photo/video quality. Get a digital camera or digital camcorder if you want optimal sharpness.

What i do for best sharpness is: Place a painting or picture on your computer chair. Focus your webcam on the painting/picture while watching it on your monitor. Be advised that there are situations where one lamp may not be enough light for others to see you properly. I use 3 lights & get excellent compliments concerning my video. I use a light on the ceiling & one light on each side of me. I use 3, 30 watt screw-on fluorescent bulbs.

it all depends on the distance folks. The distance between the camera and the objected to be captured is what is focus. so make sure when you are setting the focus keep the object exactly the same distance that you are going to be sitting when you are online. and then see it work for sure.

When I need to take really close up shots of pieces of paper and stuff, i put a magnifying glass over my camera and it acts as a lens. If I adjust the distance of the camera plus the magnifying lens just right, I can get a crystal clear image.

The magnifying glass comment above is the best one so far if you want to save money. It will work for verification apps and can save you some frustration. These apps need a sharp image on documents and the magnifying glass helps a lot!

But you will need a 3rd arm or someone else to hold the glass while you position and focus the document and take the pic.
