How To Apply Highlighter And Bronzer According To Your Face Shape Makeup Tips By Wei Yin on 24 Dec 2019 Digital Editor An INFP who enjoys watching sappy Korean dramas in her free time. Good food and cute dogs are all she needs. A makeup look is never complete without applying highlighter and bronzer as these two things add colour to your face and create shadow for a slimmer look.
However, different face shapes require different application. Here's how to apply highlighter and bronzer according to your face shape.
Read on to find out more!
#1 Squarish face

If you have a squarish face, it means your jaw area is more protruded.
To create the illusion of a slimmer face, apply bronzer from below your temple to your jaw area. This creates shadow on your jaw area and makes you look like you have a V-shaped face.
Then, apply highlighter to draw attention to the other features of your face such as the chin, forehead and bridge of the nose. Remember to apply a little highlighter your brow bone and inner cheek.
#2 Round face

Those with a round face shape may find that their face looks too flat and wide.
To correct that, create shadows by applying bronzer on your temples and the bottom part of your jaw. This creates a slimming effect on the widest parts of your face.
Highlight your forehead, bridge of the nose, chin and brow bone. Dab a little highlighter on your inner cheek and swipe upwards on your cheekbone to bring focus to the high points of your face.
#3 Diamond shape

A diamond-shaped face means that you have a narrow forehead and jaw area but protruding cheekbones. If you like to embrace your defined and sharp cheekbones, good for you!
But if not, apply bronzer on your temple and bottom part of the jaw. Apply it at the end of your cheekbone and drag it downwards till the top part of your jaw. This creates proportion for your face and draws attention away from your cheekbones.
As you probably already have a long chin, you will only need to apply highlighter on your forehead, bridge of the nose and brow bone. Apply it on your inner cheek too but drag downwards.
#4 Heart-shaped face

If you have a heart-shaped face, you have a sharp chin and a wide forehead.
Apply bronzer on your temple, upper jaw area and chin but remember a little goes a long way especially on your chin! Shading your chin area makes it look less sharp, giving your face better proportion.
As for highlight, apply it on your forehead and bridge of the nose. Apply on your inner cheeks too and drag it downwards.
#5 Long face shape

Those with a longer face shape will want to create the illusion where the face looks more proportionate.
To do so, apply bronzer on the sides of your forehead dragging down to your temple. Suck in your cheeks and apply bronzer on the hollow area, swiping inwards. Remember to also apply on your chin to create shadow and make your face look less sharp or long.
Highlight your forehead, bridge of the nose and chin to bring attention to the high points of your face. Subtly highlight your cheeks in an inverted triangle shape.
