CNA Credentials are issued out by the state you’re getting certified in, and as such, each individual state may have differing requirements for the certification process.
What do Certified Nursing Assistants do?
Certified nursing assistants work under a nursing professional. In many settings, they care for patients who are ill, disabled, or injured. A CNA will provide a variety of tasks based on the individual needs of their loved one.
How long does it take to become a CNA?
The time it takes to become a CNA can often depend on the student’s individual schedules. In Colorado, you can typically expect around 70 hours of time in a classroom and 20 hours of training in a clinic. This number can vary based on program type.
Can a family member get paid to be a caregiver?

Here’s how it works:
1. Intake and Application
The first step of the process is connecting with our Intake team to learn about the Family CNA program and completing the online application. Once your application is processed, you will begin your schooling and onboarding process with PASCO’s HR team!
- The application can be completed in approximately 10–15 minutes.

2. Journey to Becoming a CNA / TB Test
A 30-minute virtual meeting where we can discuss the entire onboarding process to become a CNA.
- We will help you find the most appropriate partner CNA School and will discuss how and where to receive a required TB test. The TB test is required for the clinical portion of CNA schooling.
3. Register for CNA School
Enrollment in one of PASCO’s partner CNA Schools.
- Most schools complete their applications online. Course schedules, program information and staff contacts can be found via their website or by calling the school directly.

4. CNA School
Attend one of our partner CNA Schools throughout the state.
- There are numerous options for CNA school programs to fit your individual needs. These include options for accelerated courses, self-paced programs, online schooling, and Spanish programs.
5. CNA Exams
Completing the Colorado State CNA written and skills exams managed through Credentia
- Once you graduate from CNA school, you will register with Credentia to schedule your written and skills exams. Our helpful resources below can help you prepare.

6. PASCO Training and Onboarding
You’ve passed your CNA school exams, congrats! PASCO begins our training and onboarding after you have completed your exams.
- PASCO’s training includes new-hire paperwork, PASCO Connect training, orientation, skills training, and CPR/first aid certification.
7. Start of Care
Once your onboarding process is complete and your CNA license has been issued, you’re ready to start providing care for your loved one! PASCO assists with establishing schedules, timesheet training, and introductions to your ongoing team.
