How To Become a Microblading Boss Master

Learn the rules and regulations in Australia and where to start.

Microblading is booming in popularity and many people are turning to microblading and other forms of cosmetic tattooing to boost their existing business or to start a new career. However it is still quite new so it can be hard to know what you need to do to make sure you are complying with regulations. While different states in Australia have different laws and requirements it can be very confusing to know where to start. I’ve done the research and here is everything you need to know about starting out:

Step 1: Do you have any existing qualifications in beauty therapy? If yes you might already have the required infection control certification. If not you can complete it online here: https://tafeqld.edu.au/courses/18602/maintain-infection-prevention-for-skin-penetration-treatments-skill-set

Step 2 : Enrol into a microblading course. Make sure that you research different training providers and find one that feels comfortable for you. Read reviews from other students before picking.

Step 3 : Complete the microblading training. Don’t be worried if you feel like you aren’t ready to work on clients after your course. Many new brow techs need a month or more of practice on friends and family before feeling ready to take on paying clients.

Step 4 : Register any business names and any domains you will need for advertising your services. Don’t forget about setting up social media accounts for your business name either.

Step 5 : register with the local council. Once you have found a studio space or salon to work out of you will need to register with the local council. This is a requirement for any service that involved breaking the surface of the skin. The council will send a representative to your place of business to ensure that the hygiene standard are being met.

Step 6: Make sure you are insured properly. If you have an existing salon you will need to update your services covered with your insurance provider. If you are starting a new business you will need to purchase business insurance with public liability.  We recommend MARSH insurance (link)

Step 7: Start microblading!
