HOW TO CALCULATE 72 HOURS FOR TESTING AND TRAVEL TO ...
Maybe your like
All travelers 5 years of age or older, regardless of citizenship or vaccination status must:
- Provide proof of a negative molecular test taken within 72 hours of your scheduled flight, or arrival at a land border entering Canada OR
- Proof of a previous positive test result taken between 14-180 days.
For the purposes of testing, what does 72 hours constitute? The allotted window for testing is within 72 hours before your scheduled departure flight. That means that if your scheduled departure flight leaves on December 4th at 10:00AM, the earliest you can take your required COVID-19 test is December 1st at 10:01AM. Flight delays do not have any influence on the 72 hour window.
Remember, accepted types of molecular tests include:
- PCR- Polymerase chain reaction
- Nucleic acid test (NAT) or Nucleic acid amplification test (NAATs)
- Reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP)
All these tests require a nose swab or saliva sample.
Safe travels!
