The reality is that you don’t want to order too much or you’ll be throwing money away, but you don’t want to run out of pavers in the middle of the project.

So, how to calculate how many pavers I need?

The first thing that you need to do in order to discover how many pavers you need for your project us to measure its area. So, let’s say that you want to build a patio. You will need to ensure that you measure both the length as well as the width. Since you need to determine the square footage of the patio, all you need to do is to multiply the width by the length of the patio.

Then, you need to discover how many pavers you need for your patio. The truth is that pavers don’t all have the same size or shape. Below, you will be able to see a table with the most common sizes of pavers. Nevertheless, and to make things as simple as possible, let’s just assume for now that the paver size that you want to use id 12” X 12”. So, in this case:

144 / 12 X 12 = 144 / 144 = 1

This means that you need one paver per square foot.

As you can see, you already determined the square footage of both the patio as well as of the paver that you want to use. So, in order to discover how many pavers you need, you just need to divide the square footage of the patio by the square footage of the paver.

Before you make the order, notice that you should always order more 5 to 10% of the pavers you actually need.
