Ditto is a well-known Pokémon, that can be bred with any gender of any Pokémon, except for legendary Pokémon (with the exception of Manaphy), to get an egg. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, Ditto can be a little difficult to find, but can be found at Mount Hokulani's three grass areas.
Steps
- 1 Stock up on Pokéballs. Ditto’s catch rate is very low. Therefore, it’s best to be prepared with Ultra Balls, so that you’ll have a better chance of catching it. Be sure to stock up on multiple, in case your first attempt at catching it is unsuccessful.
- You can also get a few Quick Balls if you’d like to attempt to catch Ditto earlier on in the battle.
- 2 Aim to have your Pokémon around level 30. The Ditto that you encounter will likely be between levels 26-28, so it’s a good idea to have a Pokémon that is a higher level than that. Advertisement
- 3 Go to Mount Hokulani and walk down to one of the 3 areas with grass. Mount Hokulani is located on Ula’ula Island, the third island of the game. At the top of the mountain is the Electric-type trial with Sophocles.
- Ditto also has a relatively low encounter rate, so be prepared to walk around for a little while before successfully encountering one.
- 4 Put your weakest Pokémon in the first slot of your party. Ditto changes form to match whatever Pokémon comes out first, so unless you successfully catch it on the first turn, using a Quick Ball, Ditto will change in to your weakest Pokémon.
- 5 Weaken Ditto to about half health or less. Moves such as False Swipe can help with this, since it will always leave the Pokémon it’s used on with at least 1 HP. Once Ditto is at about half health or less, throw a Pokéball and attempt to catch it.
- 6 Enter Ditto in the PokéDex once you’ve successfully caught it. Enjoy using Ditto in battle! Advertisement
