How to Catch Xerneas and YveltalBy Hector MadrigalaRowlingStoneCasey+40.9k moreUpdated: Nov 23, 2013 6:56am UTC

Xerneas and Yveltal are two of the Legendary Pokemon you can catch in Pokemon X and Y.

Requirements
  • Obtain the Psychic Badge and clear the Lysandre Labs area.
  • Have a Pokemon who can use False Swipe (Optional)
  • Plenty of Ultra Balls. DO NOT USE YOUR MASTER BALL! You will need it later!

After confronting and defeating Team Flare Xerosic, head to Geosenge Town and enter the Team Flare Secret HQ to find the legendary Pokemon deep within the building.

During the battle, use low power moves at first, then find out how much damage they do. Continuously wear them down until you fear Xerneas/Yveltal might faint. False Swipe really helps here. Then, start throwing Poke Balls and you'll eventually capture it. If you kill it, it will rechallenge you and you will be able to easily capture it.

Be safe with your attacking moves. Start throwing your Ultra Balls when Xerneas/Yveltal are in the Yellow/Red zone. Any attacks that cause Paralysis or Sleep will help. Don't Burn or Poison them. Their health drops will be like a time limit for you to catch them.

You can only capture the legendary associated with your game. If you want the other legendary, you will have to either trade with a friend or trade through the Global Trade System.
