How to center text vertically in Google Docs?

Even though there is no straight way to align text vertically center in Google Docs, there are a few features and workarounds you could try to center text in Google Docs and align them vertically. You can use page layout options such as page size, margins, orientation, text alignment, and spacing. Below are some of the ways we’re going to learn to center text in Google Docs.

Approach-1: Using Tables

To center text in Google Docs using tables, follow the below steps.

1. Open Google Docs and sign into your account.

2. From the document, navigate to the menu bar at the top of the screen, click “Insert” > “Table,” and choose the required row and column.

3. Now select the cell or even more than one cell that you wish to align, right-click, and select the “Table Properties” option.

4. From the “Table Properties” dialog box, click the “Cell vertical alignment” box and then select the required alignment.

5. Once you click OK, the text will be realigned vertically in the center.

Approach 2: Using the Aligning option

You can also center text in Google Docs using the “Aligning option”. To do so, follow the below steps.

1. Open the Google Docs document and type the text to align in the center.

2. To center text on a page, first select the text you wish to center by dragging the cursor through it. 

3. Navigate to the top of the screen and click on the align icon from the action bar located at the left side of the line-spacing icon.

4. Now select the “center align” option. From the left side, select the second option. See the screenshot below for your reference.

Approach-3: Using the Margin option

To center text in Google Docs using the “Margin option”, follow the below steps.

1. Open the Google Docs document and click File menu > then Page Setup. 

2. A new window will open with four-page layout options that include margins. You can set the size of the left, right, top, and bottom page margins. You can adjust the alignment by selecting one of the four alignment icons on the toolbar. All you have to do is just move the “inverted triangle” icon in the margin in the center of the page.

This will align the already typed text to the center and also let you type text in the center of Google Docs.

Workarounds to center text in Google Docs

If you want to adjust the text and align them vertically in Google Docs, you also use spacing and tabs options. To align a single sentence or a couple of sentences, you can just place the cursor before the first word of the sentence and click on the tab button until you reach the center of the screen. In this way, you can define your own center alignment.

If you want precise control over the placement of text in the center of the page, you might explore the spacing option. By using the space tab before the first word of the sentence, you can create the exact center alignment and align it vertically on the Google Docs page.
