Do you need to change the date on your Android phone? By default, your Android device will set the correct time automatically. If you want to, you can also manually set the time and date. This wikiHow article teaches you how to set the date and time on a Samsung Galaxy and a stock Android phone or tablet.

Tap General management (Samsung Galaxy) or System.
Tap Date and Time.
Disable automatic date and time.

1 Open the Settings menu . To do so, swipe down from the top of the screen. Then tap the Gear/Settings icon in the upper-right corner.
2 Scroll down and tap General management. It's next to an icon that resembles three slider bars. This is where you can manage the date and time settings, as well as the language settings.[1]XResearch source Advertisement
3 Tap Date and time. This opens the menu that allows you to manage the date and time settings.
4 Tap the toggle switch next to "Automatic date and time." "Automatic date and time" is enabled by default. This sets the date and time automatically using cellular signals. Disabling this will display options to set the date and time manually.
If the toggle switch is grey, "Automatic date and time" is already disabled.
Leaving "Automatic date and time" enabled will ensure your Samsung Galaxy always displays the correct time.
5 Tap the toggle switch next to "Automatic time zone." "Automatic time zone" is enabled by default, which allows your phone to select a time zone by cellular antennas or your locations. Turning this off allows you to select a time zone manually.
Leaving "Automatic time zone" enabled ensures that your phone has the correct time zone. You can also tap "Set time zone based on location" to allow your phone to set your time zone based on your GPS location.
6 Tap Set date. It's below "Automatic date and time". This displays a calendar that allows you to select the correct date and time.
7 Set your date. To do so, use the drop-down menu at the top to select the month and year. Then tap the day on the calendar. When you are finished, tap Done.
8 Tap Set time. It's below the "Set date" option. This displays dials that allow you to set the time.
9 Set the time. To do so, swipe up and down on the dials to set the hour and minute as well as AM or PM. Then tap Done.
10 Select your time zone. If you need to change your time zone, tap Select time zone and then tap your current time zone.
11 Select if you want to use a 24-hour format. If you want your time to display in 24-hour format (e.g., "15:00" for 3:00 PM, "09:00" for 9:00 AM, etc.), you can enable this setting by tapping the toggle switch next to "Use 24-hour format." This sets the time to 24-hour format.

1 Open your Android's Settings . Swipe down from the top of the screen, then tap the "Settings" gear that's in the top-right corner of the drop-down menu.
2 Scroll down and tap System. This option is near the bottom of the Settings page.
3 Tap Date & time. It's near the top of the System page.
4 Tap the toggle switch next "Set time automatically." Doing so will disable automatic date- and time-setting, allowing you to adjust both the time and the date manually.
If the toggle switch is grey is grey, "Set time automatically" is already disabled.
Leaving "Set time automatically" enabled will ensure your Android device always has the correct time.
5 Tap Date. It's below the "Set time automatically" setting. This will open a calendar.
6 Select a date. Go to the day you want to set your Android, tap it, and tap OK.
7 Tap Time. This is below the "Date" option on the page.
8 Select a time. You can drag the arm on the 24-hour clock to the time you want, or you can tap the keyboard icon in the lower-left corner and enter the date you want.
9 Select a time zone if necessary. If you want to select a time zone that's different from your current time zone—or if your current time zone is incorrect—tap Select time zone and then select the time zone you want to use for your date and time.
Selecting a new time zone may override the date and time you previously set.
If you have automatic date- and time-setting enabled, choosing a new time zone will automatically update your date and time.
10 Enable 24-hour time. If you want your time to display in 24-hour format (e.g., "15:00" for 3:00 PM, "09:00" for 9:00 AM, etc.), you can enable this setting by tapping the grey switch to the right of the "Use 24-hour format" heading.
If 24-hour time is currently enabled and you want to disable it, tap the blue switch to the right of the "Use 24-hour format" heading.
