How To Change Your Google Sheets Theme Color - MakeUseOf
Maybe your like
So you’ve created a great spreadsheet in Google Sheets filled with graphs, tables, and data, but it doesn’t suit your brand. What can you do? Instead of manually changing each individual element, you can save a ton of time by changing your spreadsheet theme instead. Here’s how to change your color theme in Google Sheets.
How to Change the Color of Your Entire Google Sheet
If you want to create a professional-looking spreadsheet in Google Sheets in as little time as possible, then the theme feature is your best bet.
- Go to Format in your top toolbar.
- Select Theme from the top of the list.
- The theme editor will open on the right-hand side of your screen.
- Scroll through pre-formatted themes or customize your own by selecting Customize.
What Can You Customize in the Theme Editor of Google Sheets?
If the pre-formatted themes aren’t doing it for you, then it’s easy enough to customize your own. After selecting Customize, you can choose a font style, select the primary font color, and customize up to six different accents. You can also set a new chart background color and choose what color your hyperlinks will appear.
There are no color limitations when customizing a theme, and if you have a specific color hex code, you can input that too. Simply click on the color section you want to customize, then click the plus (+) icon below the CUSTOM tab, then enter the hex code you wish to use. You can learn more about hex codes.
What Happens After You Customize a Theme in Google Sheets
After customizing a pre-formatted theme in Google Sheets, your edits will be saved over the existing theme and applied to your document. Unfortunately, changes made to themes aren’t saved within your Drive, so when you start a new sheet, you will need to customize the theme again unless you duplicate and edit the original customized document.
Getting to Grips With Charts and Graphs in Google Sheets
Charts and graphs may appear complicated, but once you get the hang of them, you’ll add them to your Google Sheets in no time. Even the most basic of charts or graphs can look impressive with a suitable color scheme, and they’re a great way to break up large chunks of text.
