The Duh/Uneducated Answer:

Just ask someone on Minecraft how to duh!… Oh wait you can’t because you don’t know how! Has the world gone mad!?

The Shortened Answer:

Press “T” on your keyboard and then type what you want after and press “Enter.”

The Nerdified Answer:

On your computer’s keyboard or if your computer supports a touchscreen computer, look for the letter “T” on your keyboard. On the US English Keyboard layout, it is located in the first row and below the number “5” and is between “R” and “Y.” Once located, carefully push the “T” button once and then a text dialog box should come up. Start typing whatever you want said. So if you want to say “hi” then push the “h” and “i” button. Once pressed, locate the “Enter” button, and press it. You should see your message appear.

The Newbie Answer:

Having trouble typing? It’s not as easy as pressing “Enter” or just simply typing. All you have to do is press “T” on your keyboard. Don’t like having to press “T”? Well you’ll have to go into Options (Esc) and then click “Controls” and then scroll until you find something labeled “Open Chat” You can then change it to be anything like pressing “Enter”. Just make sure it doesn’t cause conflicts with other keys. So don’t use “W” to start chating. Press Enter when done typing. (Default). You can also use to type commands such as “/help”.

The Long and Time Consuming yet Well Explained Answer:

Chatting in Minecraft was first introduced in Minecraft Classic, attempting to test out the Multiplayer mode. Chatting in Minecraft is one of the most common things spent doing in Minecraft Multiplayer. Chatting is a way to communicate with one another or more. But simply typing isn’t just a way. Another whole aspect of Minecraft, is typing commands. Commands, simplified, get you from one way to another. There are billions of commands created, but only a certain are in a server you might be playing. Commands vary from server to server. If you’re never sure type “/help”. If that doesn’t work or it says something like Unknown Command… well it’s ok. Anyway, you’re wondering how the heck do you type all that. Well, simply press “T” on your keyboard! Why “T”? Well why not? In some other games, to chat, all you do is start typing. But that can’t work in Minecraft because certain keys, such as W, A, S, D, are used to move around. So press “T”, say anything you’d like to say (No offensive language! You might get banned the server you’re playing!) When done, press the “Enter” button. That means you are done with the message and are ready for hundreds and more players to see your lovely or evil message. If you would like to change the controls, go press “Esc” on your keyboard, and then click “Options” in the menu, click “Controls”, and then go down till you find something labeled “Open Chat” Or at least find a control that has a box labeled “T”. Click on the box, press a key on your keyboard,” and then watch it come. If it is highlighted red, that means another control is already using it so you must change it. Additionally, you can also use “/” to quickly type commands.

The Help I have like No Time Left Answer:

Press T! Type [something]. Press Enter! Still having trouble? Try asking someone on Minecraft… oh wait you can’t because you don’t know how to chat! Yikes! Hmm… if pressing “T” doesn’t work, ensure that “T” is used to chat. Press “Esc” and then: Options>Controls>Scroll down till you find option labeled “Open Chat.” See what key is in there. Try pressing whatever key it says. If you’re still stuck or it’s not working, in Minecraft gameplay, press “/” and then see if a chat box pops out. If still not, you’re screwed-No it’s okay! It’s possible the server is blocking players from chatting so don’t worry, it may not just be you.
