You can use your AirPods on Android, but to check your AirPod battery levels on Android, you’ll need to use a workaround. Here’s how.
AirPods are a great way to listen to your music—if you’re an Apple user, that is. Everything about AirPods is designed for integration with other Apple products, from the touch controls to battery reports.
If you’re using an Android device, you can pair your AirPods using Bluetooth, but you won’t have access to the same level of information. For instance, if you want to know how to check your AirPods battery on Android, you’re out of luck — there’s no built-in method for doing so.
Thankfully, there is a workaround you can try. If you’re unsure, here’s what you’ll need to do to check your AirPod battery levels on Android.
Can You Check AirPods Battery Status on Android?
While there isn’t a built-in method available, it is possible to check your AirPod battery status on Android by using a third-party app.

A list of third-party AirPods status apps in the Google Play Store
Several apps exist that support this, including MaterialPods, AirBattery, and AndroPods. These apps all offer similar functionality (as well as price levels), so it’s worth trying out each one to find the one you prefer using.
If you’re waiting for an officially sanctioned app, however, you might be in for a long wait. Apple is notorious for locking products into its ecosystem, making it easier to use other Apple products (and harder to use anything else). Unless Apple decides to change its corporate strategy and release an official AirPods app for Android, you’ll need to use a third-party app.
Alternatively, you can switch to Beats headphones instead, as Apple does offer a Beats app for Android. You can’t use this with your AirPods, however.
How to Check AirPod Battery Levels on Android
As we’ve mentioned above, you can use your preferred third-party app to check AirPod battery levels on Android. We’ll be using MaterialPods below to explain this, but the steps should be similar, regardless of the app.
Make sure that your Bluetooth radio is switched on. If your AirPods are connected to your Android device before you begin, disconnect them first.
To Check AirPods Battery Levels on Android
- Install the MaterialPods app on your device.
- Open the app and grant the app permissions to control your device — follow the on-screen instructions.

- With permissions granted, remove your AirPods from their charging case and connect them to your Android device.
- A pop-up should appear—after a few seconds, your AirPod battery levels will appear.

- You should also be able to see your current AirPod battery levels from the notifications menu.

Some AirPod models also allow you to check the battery levels in your AirPod charging case. If this is the case, you should also see the battery levels for your charging case appear by opening your case and ensuring that your AirPods are connected to your Android device.
If this is supported, the pop-up should display the current battery levels for both your AirPods and charging case.
Using AirPods on Android
If you want to use AirPods on an Android device, you’re going to want to keep track of your battery levels. The steps above should help you to check your AirPods battery on Android, but don’t expect a seamless process. If the app doesn’t work, you may need to try another one.
You can use your AirPods on any Bluetooth-capable device, but only if they’re working. If your AirPods aren’t working on Mac, you’ll need to try some common troubleshooting tips.
