How To Check Office 365 Directory Synchronization

Skip to content Azure AD Connect Sync

So – you set up Azure AD Connect to take care of the synchronization between your on-premises AD and Office 365. But what’s the status on the synchronization?

Fortunately it’s very easy to see how your synchronization is working out generally.

Check Office 365 Directory Synchronization Using the Admin Console

Open up the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and click on Health and Directory sync status:

In the above example it seems that the last directory sync happened two days ago. This should prompt you to immediately log in to your Azure AD Connect server and check what’s going on.

How to Manage Office 365 Mailboxes From AD

Many admins are frustrated that you need multiple web consoles, PowerShell, and an on-premises Exchange Server in order to manage Office 365.

With Easy365Manager, all daily Office 365 mailbox operations can be done from AD Users & Computers.

Even complex tasks like calendar permission delegation (which normally can only be configured using PowerShell):

Easy365Manager is a small snap-in to AD Users & Computers that extends user properties with two new tabs, so you no longer have to switch between multiple web consoles to perform daily management:

Easy365Manager Office 365 user properties
New user property tab: "Office 365"
Exchange Online Mailbox properties in AD Users & Computers
New user property tab: "Mailbox"

With Easy365Manager, you can perform all daily tasks from AD Users & Computers:

  • Assign Office 365 licenses
  • Manage shared mailbox delegation

  • Configure proxyAddresses (with format and uniqueness check)
  • Replicate Azure AD Connect
  • And a lot more…

See the complete feature list here.
