Rinse
After every use remember to rinse the pumice stone. Just holding the stone under running water will loosen the dirt particles and wash them away. You can also rinse it under warm water which will help in disinfecting it too. Dry it off after cleaning. Do not use it again before the stone dries off completely.
Toothbrush
You can also scrub the pumice stone while holding it under water for thorough cleansing. For scrubbing the pumice stone use a toothbrush. Scrubbing the pumice stone under water will wash out the loosened dirt immediately. So, scrub the stone till there is no visible dirt. Then put the stone on a towel or rack to dry it off.
Bleach bath
Take a pot and add four cups of water into it. Then add 3 tablespoons of bleach into it. Then place it over medium heat. When the water boils, place the pumice stone in it. Let it stay for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes take it out of the water and then let it dry before your next use.
Soap
Fill a pot or small bucket with warm water. Add detergent soap to it and then stir till bubbles appear. Then soak the pumice stone into the solution. After 15 minutes take out the pumice stone. The dirt would have loosened out by then. Take a brush or tooth brush and lightly scrub it to remove the dirt completely from the stone.
Dry brush
If you don’t want to dry out the pumice stone after cleaning it each time then this is the method for you. Buy a dry brush and then thoroughly scrub the pumice stone with it. Make sure that there is no dirt visible on the surface of the stone. The only thing you will need for this method is good strength to scrub so that all the dirt is flossed out to get a clean pumice stone.
