    HOW TO CLEAN CHROME RIMS

    What You Need

    • Simple Green Max Automotive
    • Garden hose or pressure washer
    • Soft bristled brush
    • Microfiber cloth (optional)
    • Chrome polish (optional)

Chrome rims are one of several ways to give your otherwise humdrum car a sleeker, sportier appearance. While they're a glamorous addition to any vehicle, they require careful and consistent upkeep.

If not properly maintained, chrome wheels can corrode at the bead and valve stem - causing air leaks - develop pitting from corrosion, lose their shine, or even peel away from the metal structure underneath.

Chrome is a soft metal, making it especially vulnerable to brake dust, a corrosive mix of adhesive, carbon fibers, and metal shavings produced by braking. Since brake dust forms constantly as you drive, regular cleaning is essential.

Frequent cleaning with an appropriate cleaner is the only effective way to remove stains from chrome rims and protect them from damage. Using the right cleaner is crucial. Many soaps contain harsh chemicals like oxalic or hydrofluoric acid that can stain or damage chrome.

Simple Green Max Automotive offers a safer alternative. Its non-corrosive, non-abrasive, and non-flammable formula cuts through brake dust, grease, and grime without caustic fumes. The foaming spray clings to surfaces and reaches into crevices, delivering a thorough clean. It's also overspray-safe, so it won't harm surrounding paint or hardware.

    DIRECTIONS FOR CLEANING CHROME RIMS:

Clean your wheels first to prevent brake dust and dirty water from splashing onto a freshly washed car. Make sure wheels are completely cool before cleaning.

    1. Rinse one wheel at a time with a hose or pressure washer to remove loose dirt and brake dust and prevent water spots.
    2. Spray. Thoroughly coat the surface with Simple Green Max Automotive. Let the cleaner sit for 1-2 minutes.
    3. Scrub. Use a soft-bristled brush to loosen brake dust and grime without scratching the chrome. Reach through the spokes to clean front and back.
    4. Rinse. Be sure to thoroughly rinse the lug nut holes and between the spokes.
    5. Dry. Let wheels air dry or use a microfiber cloth to avoid scratching the chrome.
    6. Repeat for the remaining wheels.
    7. Polish. Apply chrome polish to seal the surface and maintain shine. Polish twice a month or as needed based on driving frequency.

NOTE: Do not clean over asphalt.
