Care for your dental implants just as well as you would care for your natural teeth. Thorough oral hygiene is essential to prevent diseases from developing around the implants. With proper home care and regular professional maintenance, you can make your new teeth last a lifetime. Keep in mind that different types of implants may require specific care routines.

For single implants

• Clean at least twice a day with a soft-bristle toothbrush
• Use a low-abrasive toothpaste
• Brush under and around the implant crown
• Use a nylon-coated interdental brush to clean hard-to-reach places
• Floss daily with unwaxed tape or implant-specific floss
• Use a recommended oral irrigator

For overdentures

• Remove the denture daily and soak it in a specific cleaner for the recommended time
• Inspect o‑rings, locator caps, and clips and alert your dentist if they are worn or missing
• Gently brush the underside of the denture with a denture brush
• Rinse the overdenture thoroughly with water before placing it back in your mouth
• Discuss with your dentist about replacing O‑rings and locator caps once a year
