1. 1 Rest green aventurine in the light of the full moon overnight. Moonlight has the power to both cleanse and charge crystals.[1] [2] Simply place your crystal on a patio or balcony during a full moon and let it absorb the light overnight. If you don’t have outdoor access, use a windowsill that receives lots of moonlight.[3]
   • Place your crystal in a safe, flat spot where it won’t roll away during the night.
   • A full moon has the most powerful light, but moonlight from any phase of the moon will cleanse your green aventurine, too.
   • Moonlight is always beneficial for your stones and contains no harmful or negative energy.
2. 2 Leave green aventurine in sunlight for 30 minutes. Sunlight is a powerful, fast-acting cleanser that charges crystals with vibrant energy, too. Just lay your aventurine on a patio, balcony, or windowsill that receives direct sunlight.[4] The sun’s rays will clear it of negative energy, even if it’s a cloudy or overcast day.[5]
   • Make sure to bring your green aventurine inside after about a half hour. Too much exposure to direct sunlight can cause its color to fade.[6]
   • Leave your crystal out during dawn or dusk to absorb the lights of the sun and moon at the same time.

3. 3 Rest green aventurine on a slab of selenite for up to 24 hours. Selenite is a self-cleansing crystal that clears other stones it comes into physical contact with. Lay your aventurine on top of a selenite slab or charging plate, or place jewelry in a selenite bowl. The selenite will absorb negative energy, leaving your aventurine refreshed and ready for healing work.[7]
   • Cleansing with selenite is safe for all crystals, and selenite itself rarely has to be cleansed.
   • Try charging your selenite in the sun before using it to cleanse. That way, the selenite can charge the aventurine in addition to cleansing it.[8]
   • Alternatively, use black tourmaline or clear quartz clusters in place of selenite.
4. 4 Hold green aventurine under running water for 1 to 2 minutes. Flowing water washes your stones and carries negativity away. Hold your stone under running water for several minutes—a natural source like a stream is best, but even a kitchen faucet will work, too. Pat your aventurine dry afterward.[9]
   • Try placing your aventurine outside during a rainstorm for an all-natural water cleanse.
   • Green aventurine ranges from 6 to 7 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, so it is safe to get wet for short periods of time.[10]
5. 5 Soak green aventurine in salt water for up to 24 hours. Salt and water both neutralize and carry negative energy away from your crystals. Use natural ocean saltwater, Himalayan salt or mix your own with tap water and sea salt. Fill a bowl with it and completely submerge your aventurine for a few hours or up to a day—your intuition will sense when it’s cleansed.[11] [12]
   • Rinse your crystal with fresh water and pat dry afterward.
   • Check your green aventurine for scratches or cracks before exposing it to saltwater. Saltwater is corrosive and might worsen existing imperfections.[13]
6. 6 Bury aventurine in dry sea salt or Himalayan salt for up to 24 hours. Salt crystals draw negative energy out of other stones. First, fill a bowl or container with dry salt and bury your aventurine so it’s completely covered.[14] Then, take your container outside and let it sit for 24 hours while the aventurine releases its bad energy into the air.[15]
   • Throw the salt away after cleansing. It’s full of negative energy now, so you definitely don’t want to eat or use it!
7. 7 Bury aventurine in the earth for up to 3 days. Earth has the power to cleanse your crystals and charge them with healing energy. Dig a small hole in a spot that’s surrounded by nature, like a garden or flower bed, and cover your aventurine in dirt. Mark the spot and dig it up a few days later. Rinse and pat the stone dry afterward.[16]
   • Leave the aventurine in the soil for as long as a week if it’s your first time cleansing the stone.
   • When buried, green aventurine directs earth energy upward into plant systems and infuses them with positive, healing energy.[17]
8. 8 Smudge aventurine with sage or Palo Santo smoke for several minutes. These sacred herbs have been used for spiritual cleansing for thousands of years. Light one end of a sage bundle or Palo Santo stick until it begins smoking, then place it in a heat-safe bowl. Wave your aventurine through the smoke with your hand, or use a feather to waft the smoke around the crystal.
   • Waft with the intent of clearing your green aventurine of negative energy. Visualize any spiritual impurities fading away into the air along with the smoke.
   • Smudge sage or Palo Santo outdoors if possible. If you’re smudging inside, open up some windows or doors to ventilate your space.

9. 9 Waft cleansing incense smoke around the aventurine for a few minutes. Incense smoke energetically cleanses and charges crystals and the surrounding space. To cleanse with incense, light an incense stick and place it in a holder when it starts smoking.
