How to Connect Your TCL Roku TV to the Internet

To stream movies, shows, and apps on your TCL Roku TV, your TV needs an internet connection. You can connect         using Wi-Fi (available on all TCL Roku TVs) or Ethernet (wired) if your TV model includes an Ethernet/LAN port. Some models (often larger/4K series) include an Ethernet port, while others are Wi-Fi only.

Option 1: Connect with Wi-Fi (Wireless)

During initial setup

During Guided Setup, your TV will walk you through connecting to Wi-Fi automatically.

If the TV is already set up

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Select Network.

  4. Select Set up connection.

  5. Select Wireless.

  6. Choose your Wi-Fi network name from the list.

  7. Enter your Wi-Fi password (if prompted), then select Connect/OK.

After you connect, the TV will verify the connection and may automatically check for updates.

Tip (if you don’t see your network):

  • Make sure your router is on and nearby.

  • Try selecting Scan again.

  • If your network is hidden, choose the option for a network that isn’t showing and enter the network name (SSID). 

Once you TV is connected to the Internet, it will automatically check for, download and install any available software updates. 

 

Option 2: Connect with Ethernet (Wired)

Note: This option is only available on TCL Roku 4K TVs.

  • Plug an Ethernet cable from your router/modem into the Ethernet (LAN) port on the back of the TV.

  • Press the Home button on your Roku remote.

  • Select Settings.

  • Select Network.

  • Select Set up connection.

  • Select Wired (Ethernet).

  • The TV will verify the connection automatically. 

Confirm your connection

To view network status:

  • Settings > Network > About (you’ll see connection type, signal strength for Wi-Fi, IP address, etc.).

Software updates after connecting

Your TCL Roku TV checks for updates automatically, but you can also check manually:

  1. Press Home on the remote.

  2. Go to Settings > System > System update.

  3. Select Check now.

Note: After installing an update, your TV may restart, and some menu options can move or new features may appear.
