Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • The oven (or toaster oven) method works better than the stove-top or microwave because more bacon can be cooked at once and it gets crispier.
  • This oven baked turkey bacon is a super easy side dish for breakfast or brunch. You can also use it in salads, sandwiches, or wraps.
  • This recipe is completely hands off and requires minimal cleanup. If you use a wire rack, there is no need to flip the bacon halfway through.
  • Most turkey bacon is gluten-free, dairy-free, & low carb/keto. It is also a great alternative for those who do not eat pork.
  • Learn exactly how to cook turkey bacon in the oven at 400 degrees.

Ingredients & Substitutions

Wellshire turkey bacon
  • Turkey Bacon: Use as many pieces as you can fit on the baking sheet. I like the brands Wellshire, Applegate, or Oscar Meyer that are uncured (less nitrates). Butterball also works too, but it is a little thinner. If the bacon slices seem thin or small, check after 15-20 minutes so they do not burn.

Complete list of ingredients and amounts is located on the recipe card below.

How to Make Turkey Bacon in the Oven

Quick Overview

  • Prepare the baking sheet.
  • Bake until crispy & serve warm!

Step by Step Instructions

The bacon should be brown and crispy.

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.

Step 2: Place an oven safe wire rack on top of the baking sheet.

Step 3: Line the rack with bacon in a single layer so that it is not overlapping. The pieces can be close together, they will shrink.

Step 4: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until crispy and brown. Broil on low for 1-2 minutes if needed.

Recipe Serving Suggestion

Other than just eating bacon all by itself, here are some of my other favorite breakfast dishes to serve crispy turkey bacon with:

  • Easy Oven Toast
  • Blackberry Lemon Bread
  • Over Hard Eggs
  • Sourdough French Toast
  • Banana Carrot Muffins

Expert Tips & Variations

  • Pat dry. When you remove the bacon from the package, it might be wet. Pat it dry with a paper towel. Excess moisture prevents it from crisping up.
  • Place the strips in a single layer. You do not want to stack or overlap the strips. It will not get crispy.
  • Use a wire rack. This allows air to circulate underneath the strips of bacon and makes it extra crispy. If you do not have one, place the bacon directly on the parchment paper & flip halfway through cooking.
  • Keep an eye on the bacon. If you prefer it chewy instead of crispy, you may have to reduce the cook time. Check it after 10 and 20 minutes. If you like it well done & broil it at the, set a timer. It will burn very easily.
  • Add pepper. Some brands make a black pepper flavor, like Wellshire. You can also add fresh cracked black pepper before baking.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Use leftovers on top of soups, baked potatoes, in salads, wraps, sandwiches, or egg scrambles.

  1. 5 stars Very easy! I did not use a rack. Flipped after 15 minutes and only needed another 8 minutes after flipping.
