It doesn't matter if you're an all-nighter type of player in Minecraft; you need a bed. Beds serve both as a way to pass through the night/rain in Minecraft and as a respawn point. Basically, if you're not the type of player who mines all night, you're going to be bored without a bed, and all players without beds won't be able to spawn at their home, forcing them to pretty much start all over again. Keep reading to learn how to make a Minecraft bed.
Making a Minecraft Bed
To craft a bed in Minecraft, you'll need to combine three Wooden Planks and three Wool. You can change the color of your bed with dye. Beds can also be mined from village houses, or you can purchase them from certain villagers.
Steps
Section 1 of 3:Crafting a Bed
-
1 Make the planks. Head to a workbench or crafting table and craft some Wooden Planks. Get your Wood out and simply put the Wood in any slot.[1] You'll need three total Wooden Planks to make a bed, and one Wood block will make four Wooden Planks. - Wood can be found by destroying trees. You can destroy trees with an axe, but it is also possible to punch them to obtain wood, though this takes significantly longer.
- You can use any combination of Wooden Planks to make a bed; they don't all have to match.
-
2 Obtain three wool. Wool can be found by shearing or killing sheep. The Wool must all be the same color, unlike the Wooden Planks. - Shearing (which will not kill the sheep) requires shears, which are made by crafting together 2 iron ingots. Shearing can also yield one to three wool, instead of the normal one wool produced when the sheep is killed.
- You can also craft Wool by combining four Strings.
-
3 Place the planks in the crafting grid. Place the three Wooden Planks in the bottom three slots of the crafting grid.[2] -
4 Place the wool in the crafting grid. Put the three Wool in the row above the Wooden Planks. - You can make colored beds since version 1.12 of Minecraft.[3] The bed will be the same color as the Wool you use to craft it.
-
5 Place your bed wherever you would like it to go. Place your bed in your house (or any other safe space) and sleep peacefully on your bed. This has the added bonus of creating a new spawn point, after which you will always spawn next to your bed after death. - If your bed is blocked, removed, or destroyed, however, you will respawn at the world spawn point if you die.[4]

Changing a Bed's Color
- 1 Dyeing You can change a bed's color by dyeing the Wool before crafting it, or you can dye the bed itself. If you have three Wool of the same color, it will take less dye to dye the bed after it's been crafted.
- To dye either the bed or a piece of Wool, place the dye in the middle square of the crafting grid, and then place the bed or Wool in the spot directly to the left.
- 2 Bleach If you have a dyed bed, you can remove the dye with Bleach if you're playing Bedrock Edition or Minecraft Education Edition.
- Bleach can be obtained at the lab table by combining three Water and two Sodium Hypochlorite.[5]
- To bleach the bed, place the Bleach in the middle square of the crafting grid, and then place the bed in the spot directly to the left.

Other Ways to Get a Bed
- 1 Breaking You can get beds from structures around the world. Beds can be mined with any tool, or without a tool at all.
- The color of the bed varies depending on where you find it:
- Igloos spawn red beds.
- Desert village houses spawn cyan, green, or lime green beds.
- Plains village houses spawn white or yellow beds.
- Savanna village houses spawn orange, red, or yellow beds.
- Snowy taiga village houses (Bedrock Edition only) spawn blue or purple beds.
- Snowy tundra village houses spawn blue, red, or white beds.
- Taiga village houses spawn blue or purple beds.
- The color of the bed varies depending on where you find it:
- 2 Trading Journeyman-level shepherd villagers will sell beds for 3 emeralds each. Shepherd villagers can be found near looms, which spawn in shepherd houses in villages. Advertisement

Banana Head Top Answerer Chainmail armor can't be crafted in normal survival mode, because it is made with fire. Creative users have it, but you need the "lots of items" mod to gain access to fire to make the chainmail armor. Thanks! We're glad this was helpful. Thank you for your feedback. Community Answer That means you're using the crafting table in your inventory. Punch down one block of wood from a tree, place that log in your inventory's crafting table, and then use the four wooden planks in each grid to make a crafting table. The physical block has a 9-grid pattern and you can make your bed easily. Thanks! We're glad this was helpful. Thank you for your feedback.
