How To Crouch In Fortnite on PC

The usual keybind for crouching on a PC is the Left CTRL key. It's as simple as that.

However, if you have different keybinds, you can easily view and modify them:

  1. First, find the three-box stack icon. It's located at the upper left side of your screen.
  2. A cogwheel will appear in front of the same three-box stack. Click on this cogwheel.
  3. After selecting the cogwheel, you'll be directed to the settings menu. Search for section labeled as "controls".
  4. From here, you can either change the keybinds to your preference or check the current keybinds.

And as I already mentioned, you should see Left CTRL assigned to crouching. Still, if you want to modify it because it doesn't match with your best Fortnite keybinds setup, no problem!

Fortnite How To Change Keybinds

How To Crouch In Fortnite on Console (Xbox & PlayStation)

For PlayStation users, the crouch button is L1, which is the first upper left button on your PS controller.

For Xbox One players, the crouch button is LB, which is also located on the upper left side of your Xbox One controller.

Like the PC version, Fortnite Battle Royale on Xbox and PlayStation allows players to map or change their keybinds. The good news is that both Xbox and PlayStation offer different configurations that can instantly change the keybinds, such as the Quick Builder and Combat Pro configuration.

How To Crouch In Fortnite on Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch has controls that are slightly similar to its console counterparts. To crouch in Fortnite on this platform:

  1. Find the right joystick of your Nintendo Switch controller.
  2. Tap the right joystick once to crouch.

You can also map the crouch to other buttons by accessing the settings, as shown below.

Fortunately, the Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite Battle Royale also includes the Quick Builder and Combat Pro configuration control schemes, similar to those on the Xbox One and PlayStation. However, these configurations do not change the crouch button. Therefore, it's important to get accustomed to the usual controls of Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch.

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Crouching (Pros & Cons)

Now that you're familiar with how to crouch in a Fortnite game, you might be curious about the benefits and drawbacks of this action. The first major advantage of crouching is that it significantly improves accuracy when firing weapons. Additionally, crouching makes you a harder target to spot, especially when hiding behind buildings or in bushes.

On the downside, the main con of crouching is that it slows your movement and contracts your hitbox, making you an easier target if spotted.

To summarize, here are the pros and cons of crouching:

Is There A Toggle Crouch In Fortnite?

Unfortunately, there is no built-in option for toggle crouch in Fortnite. To enable this feature, you will need to download third-party applications, such as hotkey activators, when playing on a PC. However, these apps can often cause error codes like Fortnite error 10022, so you might want to consider this risk.
