Tutorial Overview
Patterns often require reducing the number of stitches in a row, particularly amigurumi patterns. In this video we will show you how to decrease a stitch with double crochet.
Step-by-step guide
-
To decrease a double crochet stitch, insert your hook into the next stitch.
-
Yarn over and pull through but do not complete the stitch yet.
-
Now insert your hook into the next stitch and yarn over and pull through.
-
You now want to go through all three stitches by yarn over and pulling through all the loops on your hook.
-
You’ve now decreased 2 stitches into 1.
And that’s how you decrease a stitch in crochet!
