How to Delete All Content & Settings (Format)

In this article, you'll learn how to format the system memory and delete all settings.

  • If you receive the message, "An Internet connection is required to delete all content and settings from the console," then you will need to connect the Wii U to the internet before proceeding.

What to do

  1. From the Wii U Menu, select System Settings.
  2. Using the Left Stick, scroll to Delete All Content & Settings and press the A Button. Delete All Content and Settings being displayed on the Wii U System Settings Screen
  3. Please read the information displayed on your TV screen, and then tap Next.
  4. Wait for a few seconds, and then tap Delete Everything.
