Start this first step by drawing a large circle shape for the wheel and then add the guidelines in the middle. Next draw the long lines of the barrel shaft on both sides and then a curved line shape for the chain. Once you are done you can proceed on. more

In this next step you will start detailing the barrel of the cannon as shown starting with the tip. You have to make the tip of the cannon look like it has an opening. Draw a ring on the mid part of the shaft and then thicken the wheel by drawing another circle on the inner part of the wheel shape. You will then draw two more circles for the welded part of the wheel which actually holds the cannon to the base. You will then draw the top part of the wooden handle which is used to push the cannon along. more

This is step three and what you see is what you will be doing. So far the steps are pretty easy right? What you will do now is add the spokes to the wheel and then detail the inner cap of the wheel. Detail the wooden handle which will make the wood look like wood. more

Wow, you are already on step four and with step four you will start detailing the hub with the design you see here. Once that is finished you can start adding the link lines for the chain and then draw the shape of the wick. See so far it's pretty easy right. more

This is the last drawing step and what you will do now is detail the rest of the hub cover and then finish off the link lines as shown. You can then start erasing all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one.

This is what your cannon should come out looking like once you are done. All you have to do now is color it in and that is it. You have just finished this tutorial on how to draw a cannon step by step.

Description: Hello everyone and welcome back to another fun filled drawing tutorial on DragoArt.com. Today I am going to do a drawing lesson on another awesome piece of artillery. I will be showing you how to draw a cannon step by step. The cannon that I am going to show you how to draw looks similar to those used in the civil wars before the First World War. Cannons date back as early as 1250 when the Arabs of Spain first created and used cannons which were called madfaa back then. Now the madfaa was a wooden bowl which was packed with gunpowder and a circular stone of some sorts which was used as a bullet. Some weaponry specialist label the cannon as being a gun that is too large to be hand held and too big to have a trigger. The inventors of the cannon wanted the power and speed of the bullet and the size of a miniature boulder. So what they did was forge a long thick cylinder shaft, mounted it to a mobile or stationary carriage, fused it with a long wick which ignited the gunpowder, and then filled the deep shaft with a round boulder that would shoot out and do some serious damage. In the movie “The Patriot” the artillery used was cannons and when fired they would travel a long distance and then what ever it hit was usually destroyed or almost dismantled. Cannons were still being used during WWI and WWII, and as the years progressed cannons took on another form and were then being used on tanks, airplanes, and battleships. As a matter of fact the cannons of today are still being used by both tanks and battleships around the world. The cannon has been a part of arsenal history for centuries and all though they look different from when they were first created, they still provide a powerful bang and leave a trail of destruction on whatever it hits. This drawing tutorial will show you how to draw a cannon step by step with detailed instructions. The steps are easy to follow and understand which makes learning how to draw a cannon simple enough for everyone to tackle. I will be back with more drawing fun in a so stay tuned.
